A hydraulically damped elastic mounting, especially for the engines of motor vehicles. To achieve, with a straightforward and economical construction, an effective, purely hydraulic damping of long-stroke, low-frequency vibrations, and a complete absorption of acoustic, i.e. short-stroke, high-frequency vibrations, a working cylinder is filled with a low-viscosity hydraulic fluid, and a damping disk mounted on the connecting rod nearly completely spans the cross-sectional area of the working cylinder. Provided all the way around on the periphery of a damping disk is a profiled shape that seals, in a substantially contact-free manner, the annular gap between the damping disk and the inner wall of the working cylinder. The damping disk divides the working cylinder into two partial chambers that communicate with one another via at least one calibrated transfer passage.

Hydraulically damped elastic mounting

A hydraulically damped resilient mounting having a housing that is closed off on opposite sides by resilient elastomeric elements to form an interior of the housing. A partition is disposed in the housing between the resilient elastomeric elements in such a way as to divide the interior of the housing into two chambers that are filled with damping fluid. The partition is provided with a flow passage so that the volumes of the two chambers can be reciprocally varied. The flow passage includes a hollow chamber that forms a large portion of the surface area of the partition. The flow passage also includes an at least nearly tangentially disposed inlet, in the outer peripheral region of a partition, to provide communication between one of the two chambers and the hollow chamber. The flow passage further includes an at least nearly axially disposed outlet, in the central portion of the partition, to provide communication between the hollow chamber and the other of the two chambers.

Hydraulically damped resilient mounting

A resilient mounting for engines, machine units, etc. During driving operation, resilient motor mounts having a supporting diaphragm-like element which oscillates freely via an air cushion generate undesirable and annoying noises, and they also transmit to the chassis and the body, in a practically undamped fashion, low-frequency oscillations. The present invention therefore provides an effective acoustic uncoupling, without adversely affecting the spring or shock absorption characteristic, via a damping device in the form of a flexible diaphragm which is provided with a throttled transfer hole. This diaphragm is attached between the air cushion and a supplemental space which receives compressed air, the pressure of which can be regulated.

Resilient mounting

An elastic motor mount having a closed-off hollow space which is formed within a housing. With the aid of a regulatable pressure pump, the hollow space can selectively be filled with a damping fluid from a tank disposed externally of the mounting. It is therefore possible to randomly affect the stiffness of the shock absorption and the damping properties, and to efficiently reduce undesirable vibrations which might occur without permanently adversely affecting the acoustical property.

Elastic motor mount

A hydraulically damped resilient mounting. Compared to undamped mountings, motor mounts having hydraulic damping transmit more noise because the damping device that is desirable for driving comfort favors the transmission of noise. The inventive damping device can be selectively activated or deactivated as needed by shifting the damping fluid, which is moved as a single incompressible body. For this purpose, the damping fluid is accommodated between two flexible diaphragms that are subjected to pressure differentials which are produced randomly or are controlled by a computer.

A hydraulically damped motor mount for motor vehicles, and similar elastic supports having a controlled damping device, the free cross-sectional flow of which is statically closed off by a flexible diaphragm which is held with a certain freedom of movement between rigid support plates. In order to improve the acoustical behavior of such mountings, and to suppress the noise associated with the change in direction of the spring movements, the inner peripheral region of the support plates which embrace the diaphragm, and which overlap the edge of the latter, is provided with successive indentations in the form of gaps between teeth in such a way that the frictional forces generated by the approach of the diaphragm onto the support plates in the damping fluid is kept low. The inventive configuration of the support surfaces results in the elimination of undesirable tapping noises when the placement of the diaphragm has advanced partially.

A hydraulically damped elastic engine mounting having a ring-shaped rubber spring member which takes up static and dynamic loads and is equipped with a damping disk immersed in a damping fluid in order to provide hydraulic damping. The damping disk is movably mounted with axial play between spherical or conical buffer surfaces, and is provided in the vicinity of the buffer surfaces with passages through which the damping fluid can flow. The free path of the disk governs the damping applied, and at the same time prevents undesirable impact noise by the special design of the parts which move in relation to each other. Moreover, the damping disk may be constructed in such a way that interfering cavitation phenomena produced in the two surfaces are suppressed. This ensures that the damping device is fully effective in all vibration ranges and under all conditions occurring while the vehicle is being driven. This may be effected by providing the damping disk with a large number of holes distributed over its entire surface, by making the damping disk star-shaped with several vanes, or by making the damping disk somewhat dish-shaped.
