The invention relates to a method and to a device for removing contaminants arising during the production of aliphatic or alicyclic nitric acid esters, in particular for removing contaminants from nitrated crude nitric acid esters, which nitrated crude nitric acid esters arise during the nitration of monovalent or multivalent aliphatic or alicyclic alcohols capable of nitration, after the separation of the final nitrating acid, and to a production system for nitrating monovalent or multivalent aliphatic alcohols capable of nitration with subsequent purification of the nitrated nitric acid esters.

Method and device for removing contaminants arising during the production of aliphatic nitrate esters

The present invention relates to a method for purifying raw dinitrotoluenes resulting from dinitration of toluene in the presence of a nitric acid/sulfuric acid/nitrating acid mixture, and a device or plant for performing the method, and a corresponding production plant for producing dinitrotoluene, characterized in that (a) the raw dinitrotoluenes are first subjected to a wash with at least one washing medium after separation of the nitrating acid mixture, followed by a separation of the washing medium; and that (b) subsequently the washed dinitrotoluenes resulting from method step (a) are subjected to stripping (stripping gas treatment) with at least one gas (stripping gas).

Method for removing impurities from dinitrotoluenes

The present invention relates to a method for removing impurities from nitrated crude products obtained during the nitration of nitratable aromatic compounds, after removal of the final nitrating acid, by treatment with a washing medium, and also to a plant or apparatus suitable for implementing this method. Further provided by the invention is a production plant for the nitration of nitratable aromatic compounds with subsequent purification of the nitrated products.

Method and apparatus for purifying nitration products

The invention relates to a process for removing and recovering nitrating acid mixtures, in particular nitric acid, sulphuric acid and oxides of nitrogen, from the nitrated crude products occurring in the nitration of nitratable aromatic compounds after the nitrating acid has been separated off, by acidic scrubbing by means of a multistage extraction process, the extraction process comprising a cross-current extraction with downstream countercurrent extraction. The process permits essentially complete recovery of the abovementioned acids, including the oxides of nitrogen, in high concentrations, so that they can be recycled to the nitration and no longer pollute the wastewater.

Process for the nitration of aromatic compounds

A process for the removal and recovery of nitric acid, sulphuric acid and nitrous oxide (NO.sub.x) from crude dinitrotoluene (DNT) obtained by nitrating with a nitrating acid, a benzene derivative selected from the group consisting of tolulene or mononitrotoluene (after separation from the dinitrotoluene from the nitrating acid, wherein the crude dinitrotoluene is extracted in a plurality of steps whereby a dilute aqueous solution of nitric, sulfuric and nitrous acids countercurrently contacts the crude dinitrotoluene, the volume ratio of the dinitrotoluene to the aqueous solution being between 1:3 and 10:1, the extraction steps resulting in the formation of an aqueous extract which is blended directly into the nitrating acid for re-use in the acid nitration of the benzene derivative.
