A fuze for a bomblet projectile of the type including a primary firing pin mounted in a housing for axial displacement in the longitudinal direction and a detonation charge carried by a slide disposed in the housing for displacement in a direction transverse to said longitudinal direction of the housing, between a safety position, wherein the detonation charge is not aligned with the primary firing pin, and an armed position, wherein the detonation charge is aligned with primary firing pin. To further improve the firing and safety devices of such fuzes and permit safe pick-up of duds, a lateral recess is provided in a side surface of the slide in the form of a longitudinal groove so that the movement of the slide, if minimum centrifugal forces are no longer present, can be arrested in an intermediate position by renewed engagement of a spring tensioned safety pin in the recess. In this intermediate position the detonation charge remains off center or non-aligned with the primary firing pin, in an interrupted line of ignition. Moreover, in the intermediate position, the slide and in particular ignition element for a self-destruct charge carried by the slide, remains spaced from second firing pin disposed laterally in the housing at the armed position.

Fuze for bomblet projectile

A grenade projectile has a projectile housing having a fragmentation length portion; an explosive charge accommodated in the projectile housing and being surrounded by the fragmentation length portion; a forwardly acting shaped charge liner bounding the explosive charge at a front end thereof, as viewed in the flight direction of the projectile; and a percussion fuse assembly accommodated in the projectile housing behind the explosive charge as viewed in the flight direction. The percussion fuse assembly includes a percussion member, a flight acceleration-responsive first safety arrangement and a centrifugal force-responsive second safety arrangement for arming the percussion member when the projectile reaches a predetermined acceleration and a predetermined spin.

Grenade-type projectile

A shaped charge projectile includes a projectile housing, explosives and a shaped charge liner in the projectile housing, and a front hood to cover the shaped charge liner. To reduce the impact shock when the projectile hits a target, the front portion of the hood is configured as a deformable region, with a wall thickness that decreases toward the center point of the hood. Furthermore, in order to reliably support the internal warhead and maintain a sufficient stand-off distance even with the hardest target impact, the hood has a cylindrical attachment portion with a wall thickness of about three times the wall thickness of the projectile housing.
