The invention relates to a method and apparatus for the inspection of objects, such as cigarette packs (), with respect to the proper positioning of blanks placed upon them, such as band strips (), by means of an inspection means (). Known inspection means have the disadvantage that they are very expensive. The invention provides a cost-efficient alternative. To this end, blanks are illuminated laterally at one or more border edges () while the inspection means () scans the blank () at an essentially frontal aspect.

Method and apparatus for the inspection of objects

With the method according to the invention for manufacturing cigarette packets of the hinge-lid type, piles of blanks 10 are mechanically and/or pneumatically handled in a packaging machine before being processed. A cleaning station 26 has for this purpose brush systems 27, 28 acting on the piles of blanks 10 and detaching the impurities from the piles of blanks. In addition, the cleaning station 26 has extraction devices 35, 36 for pneumatically handling the piles of blanks 10. With the aid of the extraction device, the impurities detached by the mechanical cleaning members are sucked away.

Method and device for manufacturing packets

A pack made from thin or low-strength packaging material, especially a bundle pack for cigarettes. To increase the load-bearing capacity of a pack made from thin packaging material, for example paper, a blank for an outer wrapping (14) is provided with local reinforcements, namely, for example, reinforcing strips 15, 16, 17, 18 which are arranged at distances from one another and parallel to one another preferably on the inside of the blank, and which are connected to the latter. As regards outer wrappings (14) having windows or recesses (19) for affixing revenue stamps, etc. to the wrapped cigarette packs (10), the reinforcing strips (15 to 18) extend in such a way that transverse webs (22) formed between the recesses (19) each have a reinforcement.

When testing the cigarettes (10, 11) of cigarette groups (16, 17) in pockets (13, 14) of a conveyor, particularly a cigarette turret (12), difficulties relating to adequate spacing of the testing members (29 . . . 32) from one another arise when the cigarettes (10, 11) have an especially small diameter. In order to make undisturbed testing by means of moving the testing members (29 . . . 32) near to the end faces of the cigarettes (10, 11) nevertheless possible, these are tested successively in several, especially two steps, whereby during these testing cycles cigarettes, spaced a somewhat greater distance apart from one another in each case, are acted upon by the testing members (29 . . . 32). Particularly within cigarette rows (18 . . . 21) only every other cigarette is tested in each case.

Process and apparatus for testing cigarettes

A packaging machine for simultaneously producing cigarette packs in two parallel production tracks. Each track comprises a cigarette magazine, a feeding conveyor, a folding turret, a drying turret and a discharge conveyor which feeds a transverse path common to both tracks. The turrets and conveyors of each track are mounted on opposite sides of a supporting stand with the magazines and conveyors being transversely offset relative the mid-plane of the machine so that the cigarettes of the two tracks are always arranged, fed and discharged in the same orientation of the cigarettes.

For the easier removal of the contents, particularly of cigarettes (32), of a flip-top packet, fold lines are pre-shaped (central fold line 33, continuation fold lines 35, 36) in the region of a front wall (13) and of a collar front wall (29) in a manner such that by application of pressure via side walls (21) the front wall (13) with the collar front wall, when the flip-top packet is open, are brought into a position which is V-shaped in cross-section.

Blanks (10) for producing folding boxes, etc., are severed from an advancing sheet (11), conveyed continuously, at a constant speed by first drawing rollers specifically by partial severing cuts (cutting lines 33, 34) supplementing one another and made in successive work cycles. The blanks (10) are severed from the sheet (11), with the exception of residual connections (35), and are separated completely from the sheet (11) by tearing as a result of a higher speed of additional drawing roller located downstream of the first rollers.

Process and apparatus for producing blanks for packs

A unitary, tin foil blank is folded around two separate and adjacent cigarette blocks to form parting folds which extend through the tin foil blank between the cigarette blocks and physically separate the blocks from one another. Thus, the tin foil blank forms the inner wrapping for the cigarette blocks and consists of a common, one-part blank.

Inner pack for multi-block cigarette packs

A package of the shell and slide type for accommodation of cigarettes is disclosed. This type of package has an outer shell and an inner sliding drawer, with the drawer having a center section with two upwardly folded bridges attached on opposite sides to the center section and cover flaps attached on the two orthogonal opposite sides. The sliding drawer itself is composed from two partial blanks, one of which has the bridge elements and the other the cover flaps. The blanks are cut from a single web without any waste material.
