A stent delivery device includes a sheath covering a compressed stent and a housing. The housing includes a mover reel coupled to an actuator that rotates the mover reel in a winding direction when actuated. A sheath pull wire is coupled to the mover reel and the sheath. Rotation of the mover reel in the winding direction winds the sheath pull wire on the mover reel and moves the sheath in a proximal direction. A pre-mover is provided separate from the actuator, the pre-mover including an arm having a proximal end engaged with the mover reel to prevent rotation in the locked position. The pre-mover includes a pre-mover actuator coupled to the arm and having a portion projecting outside of the housing, wherein movement of the pre-mover actuator disengages the arm from the mover reel and rotates the mover reel a predetermined amount in the winding direction.

A hand-held actuator device for releasing into the body from a delivery system a medical prosthesis, like a stent, comprising a frame that acts as a housing, a reel for receiving a wire, a manually operable slider mounted to the frame and a one-way connection between the slider and the reel. The actuation member is coupled to the slidable member, and the rolling membrane is disposed over the self-expanding implant, the rolling member including a proximal end secured to the inner shaft, and a distal end secured to the slidable member. The slitting member includes a proximal end secured to the inner shaft, and a distal end secured to the slidable member, such that translation of the slidable member over the inner shaft in a proximal direction contemporaneously translates the rolling membrane and the slitting member in the proximal direction.

A method of deploying a stent includes providing a delivery system with the stent loaded in a reduced diameter configuration between an inner catheter and an outer sheath, the stent including a covering positioned on a luminal wall surface thereof, the inner catheter including a radially outwardly extending protrusion that extends into the covering but does not intersect a plane along the stent luminal wall surface, advancing the delivery system to a stenting site, and withdrawing the outer sheath to deploy the stent at the stenting site.

The outer sheath may include a first layer and a reinforcement layer that are laminated together, a portion of the pull member captured radially between the first layer and the reinforcement layer. At least a partial length of the captured portion of the pull member may be formed with a varying radial profile.

A catheter device having a shaft that extends from a proximal end to a distal end to carry on its distal end a self-expanding implant for intraluminal advance on a guidewire and delivery of the implant to an implant site by proximal withdrawal of a sheath that lies radially outside the implant in the catheter, the catheter including a first shaft element to pull the sheath proximally and a second shaft element to push the implant distally to prevent the implant moving proximally with the sheath when the sheath is pulled proximally, wherein the second shaft element carries a stopper for abutting the implant, the stopper including proximal and distal portions having different radiopacities.

A stent device delivery system and method of making. The stent device delivery system includes a stent device, an outer sheath overlaying the stent device in a radially compact, delivery configuration of the stent device, and an inner catheter extending axially and radially within a lumen of the stent device. The inner catheter provides a stent bed upon which the stent device is located so that a radially inner surface of the stent device engages a radially outer surface of the stent bed. The stent bed may define an inwardly tapering profile, narrowing in radius from a distal portion of the stent device to a proximal portion of the stent device.

A stent device includes a first graft member, a second graft member and a stent frame defining a central axis. The frame has an abluminal surface engaged with the first graft member and a luminal surface engaged with the second graft member such that the first graft member and the second graft member encapsulates the stent frame along the length of the central axis. The stent frame includes a configuration where the stent frame is disposed on a curvature such that the abluminal surface has a radius of curvature of approximately 20 millimeters about a center of the curvature and the luminal surface defines a substantially constant effective cross-sectional area at any portion generally transverse to the central axis of the stent frame disposed about the curvature.

A delivery device for delivering a stent device that is expandable from a radially reduced, delivery configuration to a radially expanded, deployed configuration. A retaining sheath is disposed over the stent device for maintaining the stent device in the delivery configuration. A pull line to be pulled upon is provided to retract the retaining sheath in a rolling manner such that the retaining sheath is folded back on itself to provide a radially inner sheath of the retaining sheath, a radially outer sheath of the retaining sheath and a fold portion therebetween. The retaining sheath may be made of a cold drawn plastic at least along the path of travel of the fold portion in retracting the retaining sheath from over the stent device.

A device for moving an elongate member relative to an elongate body through which it extends, the device including a housing, a mover, and a pre-mover. The housing is connectable to the elongate body. The mover is associated with the housing and is connectable to the elongate member for moving the elongate member relative to the housing. The pre-mover is associated with the housing and is connectable to the elongate member for adjusting the elongate member in preparation for moving the elongate member with the mover.

The present disclosure provides a delivery system for a self-expanding implant which includes a sheath which surrounds and constrains the implant prior to delivery and a confining element which surrounds the sheath during storage. The confining element preferably includes elongate members running axially along the sheath, which compress the sheath and the stent to reduce hoop stress in the system without promoting undesired adhesion between layers of the sheath.

A device to release from an implant bed in the device a self-expanding implant by pulling back proximally, the length of the implant, a rolling membrane with an inner sleeve that extends distally to the distal end of the implant and an outer sleeve that extends proximally, from the distal end of the inner sleeve, the outer sleeve, during said release, pulling the distal end of the inner sleeve back proximally over the abluminal surface of the remainder of the inner sleeve, proximal of its distal end, the device having a slitter, that is caused to move proximally contemporaneously with the outer sleeve, to slit the inner sleeve progressively, starting at a distal point in the inner sleeve, and progressing proximally along the length of the inner sleeve.

A method of moving a stent device into an outer sheath of a stent device delivery system is disclosed. The stent device is crimped into a collapsed configuration onto the loading mandrel. The loading mandrel is pushed toward the outer sheath as the engaging surfaces resist relative longitudinal movement between the stent device and the loading mandrel to move the stent device into the outer sheath. Upon entering the outer sheath, the stent device expands radially until radially constrained by the outer sheath.
