Method for an electronic device (IT) that is controllable in at least one operating state (OP) and one standby state (SBY), with which a main processing unit (MPU) controls the operating state (OP) and a preprocessing unit (PPU) controls the standby state (SBY), such that, by means of the preprocessing unit (PPU), the main processing unit (MPU) and, to some extent, the functional units of the electronic device (IT) that are implemented by circuitry are switched by the control into at least one state having reduced energy consumption. An advantage can be seen in the fact that, by using a preprocessing unit (PPU), in the operating state of 'standby' (SBY) the total energy consumption of the electronic device (IT) is reduced, both due to the significantly reduced energy consumption of a preprocessor (PPE) in the preprocessing unit (PPU) and to the units (MPU) that have been switched by the control into a state having reduced energy consumption, and the electronic device can therefore be operated more economically. An additional advantage is that the reduction of the energy consumption is achieved exclusively by circuitry measures and that no implementations must be included in the programs of the electronic device (IT).

The invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for the imaging representation of information, particularly for use with communication terminals. The arrangement comprises an image output device having at least one first partial region and at least one second partial region, wherein the first partial region is designed such that the representation of the information is optimized for high-quality imaging and the second partial region is designed such that it is optimized for lower-quality imaging. According to the method, the first partial region is activated when data is present for output using high-quality imaging, while the second partial region is always actively operated.

A method for operating a wireless communication connection comprising a first device using a first standard for LANs and providing a first radio coverage area, a second device operating according to a second standard and providing a second radio coverage area, the first and the second coverage areas overlapping, a mobile device operable according to the first and the second standards and a central interface device between the LAN and a switched telephone network, a voice data transmission according to the first standard is prioritized by the mobile device. A measurement is performed and a message including the measurement result and topology information relating to the LAN is transmitted to the central device. The central device uses the message to decide for a changeover of the operation of an existing connection from the first area to the second area, the mobile device initiating the changeover based on the decision.

A connection addressed via a directory number is set up to a terminal by setting up a partial connection to a communication device, with determined additional information being conveyed to the communication device as part of the partial connection. As a result of said partial connection and depending on the additional information conveyed, the partial connection is further switched to the terminal by the communication device.

There is disclosed a communication system comprising a distribution element, which is coupled to a power supply unit and to which a plurality of network devices can be connected. Each network device that is connected to the distribution element comprises at least one network element and each network device is supplied with energy and messages by the distribution element. A sub-assembly that is located in each network device is configured to determine a parameter that characterizes the network from a network of passive components, said parameter allowing an indication of the energy requirements of the network device to be obtained, each of the network elements of the network device having at least one passive component, which forms an integral part of the network.

A communication system has a computer device, a telecommunication terminal apparatus, and a switch that can be connected to a public telephone network. The computer device and the telecommunication terminal apparatus are connected via a first bus system, and the telecommunication terminal apparatus is connected to the switch via an interface. In a first operating mode of the telecommunication terminal apparatus, data is received from the switch and rerouted to a first bus system and to the computer device. The computer has a processor to process data received by the telecommunication terminal apparatus, and forwards this data to the telecommunication terminal apparatus via the first bus system and the data are further transmitted by the telecommunication terminal apparatus. The first bus system has a greater bandwidth than a second bus system that connects individual internal assemblies of the telecommunication terminal apparatus. In the first operating mode, the telecommunication terminal also forwards data produced by the telecommunication terminal apparatus to the computer device and the computer processor processes the received data. This data is sent back via the first bus system to the telecommunication terminal apparatus which reroutes this data to the switch.

Communication system

The communications system has a communications terminal that transmits status data to a remote computer. The remote computer processes a program that generates an instruction sequence on the basis of the status data. The instruction sequence is processed by a central controller of the communications terminal as a program section.
