A fastener means for a vehicle occupant restraint system equipped with a gas bag comprises a holder part, a stud non-rotatably connected to the holder part and a nut screwable on the stud. One of the stud and the nut comprises one of a self-tapping and thread-forming thread, the other one of both parts which has no thread defines a counterpart. The thread deforms a thread in the counterpart in one of a tapping, forming and elastically deforming manner so that the nut after being screwed on is locked against turning out of place.

A gas bag module of a vehicle occupant restraint system has a substantially tubular gas generator, a gas bag, and a gutter-shaped mounting housing surrounding the gas generator. The mounting housing is provided with an elongated slot for fastening of the gas generator to a vehicle and has opposite walls delimiting the elongated slot. The walls have terminal edges and are bent in a U-shape to define portions with a double layer. The layer of both portions which is provided with the terminal edge extend towards the gas generator so that the terminal edge lies against the gas generator.

A method of fabricating a gas bag for a vehicular occupant restraint system, the gas bag having an inner side and an outer side and being formed by fabric portions having margins which overlap each other, comprises a first step in which a seam is formed along a substantial portion of the margins at the inner side of the gas bag or between the inner side and the outer side thereof. The method further comprises a second step in which the remaining portion of the margins is closed by a seam formed only from the outer side. A gas bag which can be formed by means of the method described above, has an inner side and an outer side and is formed by fabric portions having margins which overlap each other. The margins are connected to each other by means of a seam. The margins have a first part which, when the gas bag is deployed, faces a vehicle occupant, and a second part corresponding to the remainder of the margins. The seam is formed from the inner side or between the inner side and the outer side of the gas bag in the first part of the margins, and from the outer side in the second part of the margins.

Method of fabricating a gas bag for a vehicular occupant restraint

A gas bag for a vehicular occupant restraint system comprises a wall defining an interior space of the gas bag intended to be filled with pressurized gas. A plurality of curved nicks is provided in the wall of the gas bag. Each of the curved nicks determines an emission orifice for the pressurized gas.

A gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraining system, which is adapted to be unfolded from a folded state into a deployed state by gases led into the interior of the gas bag, comprises at least one fabric part having edges which are connected together along at least a part of their length by a seam. This seam is formed by a plurality of stitches and at least one thread. The length of the stitches and the tension of the thread is so set that, in the deployed state of the gas bag, a plurality of discharge openings are formed between respectively adjacent stitches between two edges sewn together. A controlled discharge of the gases takes place through the discharge openings.

A gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraining system comprises a gas generator and a gas bag having an inflation opening formed in a wall of the gas bag and having an interior delimited by the wall. The gas bag is able to be unfolded from a folded state into a deployed state by means of gas under pressure provided by the gas generator and led into the interior of the gas bag through the inflation opening. The gas bag module comprises at least one guard flap arranged in the interior of the gas bag between the inflation opening and a portion of the wall opposite the inflation opening. The at least one guard flap protects the wall of the gas bag against the gas under pressure entering the interior of the gas bag.

Gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraining system

A gas bag is attached to an accommodating housing of a gas bag restraining system for vehicles on the front passenger side thereof. The gas bag is provided along the edge of its rectangular inflation opening with a sewn-in reinforcing element forming a bead. The edge provided with the reinforcing element is fixed to the accommodating housing with an interference fit by means of a profile element. The attachment provides high mechanical strength along with an improved gas tightness.
