A gearbox assembly includes a plurality of planet gears. At least one planet gear of the plurality of planet gears includes a layshaft that supports a first stage planet gear and a second stage planet gear. The at least one planet gear is characterized by a Radial Stage Distance greater than or equal to 30 millimeters and less than or equal to 100 millimeters. The Radial Stage Distance is R−R. Ris a first stage rim inner radius of the first stage planet gear and Ris a second stage root radius of the second stage planet gear.

Gearbox assembly

A gearbox assembly includes a plurality of planet gears and a planet carrier including a plurality of planet gear pockets. Each planet gear is mounted in a respective planet gear pocket about a pin. The planet carrier is characterized by a planet carrier envelope in a range of 2.7 and 4.50. The planet carrier envelope is equal to a product of a planet gear pocket aspect ratio multiplied by a planet carrier radial ratio. The planet gear pocket aspect ratio is D/L. The planet carrier radial ratio is D/aw. Dis a planet gear pocket diameter of the plurality of planet gear pockets, L is a planet gear pocket length of the plurality of planet gear pockets, D is a planet carrier diameter of the planet carrier, and aw is a pin center distance from a longitudinal axis of the planet carrier to an axis of the pin.

A gearbox assembly includes a plurality of planet gears. At least one planet gear of the plurality of planet gears includes a layshaft. The gearbox assembly includes one or more roller bearings disposed within the layshaft and includes a plurality of rolling elements. The gearbox assembly also includes a bearing radial envelope in a range of 1.2 to 4.325. The gearbox assembly can also include a layshaft axial envelope in a range of 3.8 to 12.5.

A gear assembly for use with a turbomachine engine comprises a sun gear, a plurality of planet gears, and a ring gear. The gear assembly is connected to an input shaft and an output shaft. The sun gear is configured to rotate about a longitudinal centerline of the gear assembly and is driven by the input shaft. A component of the gear assembly drives the output shaft. The planet gears can be compound planet gears having a first stage and a second stage.

Compound symmetric gearbox for a turbomachine

A turbomachine engine according to aspects of the present disclosure is provided. The engine includes a fan assembly including a plurality of fan blades, and a core engine surrounded by an outer casing. The core engine includes a power output component operably connected to the fan assembly, a first input power source and a second input power source. The first input power source is counter-rotatable relative to the second input power source. The core engine includes a gear assembly operably connected to the power output component and configured to receive power from the first input power source and the second input power source.

A gear assembly for use with a turbomachine comprises a sun gear, a plurality of planet gears, and a ring gear. The gear assembly is connected to an input shaft and an output shaft. An apparatus and method for reducing planet gear misalignment of planet gears mounted on a planet-carrier in an epicyclic gearing. The apparatus and method of the present disclosure specifically provide for a stiffness-reducing feature, a pillar, and a side-plate, each with a respective stiffness. In several embodiments, the feature stiffness is less than the pillar stiffness which is at least 10% less than the side-plate stiffness. The stiffness-reducing feature and the pillar may make up a pylon which has an axis. The pylon axis may form an angle with the side plate which is less than 90&#xb0; and greater than 20&#xb0;.
