A heating apparatus comprising a burner including a burner body having an air-fuel mixture chamber and a burner cap formed with a plurality of flame ports, a pan formed with an opening for receiving the burner body, a top plate placed on an upper face of the heating apparatus and a trivet placed on the top plate. The burner cap includes a cylindrical portion formed with an air passage, a convex portion projecting upwardly from an inner face of the cylindrical portion and a cover member formed integrally with an upper portion of the cylindrical portion through the convex portion such that a gap is defined between an upper end of the cylindrical portion and a lower face of the cover member.

A microwave heating apparatus has a heating chamber in which an object is to be heated both dielectrically by microwave and by radiant energy. A microwave generator for generating microwaves is disposed above the heating chamber, and a radiant energy heater is located within the heating chamber. A rectangular wave guide extends between the generator and an opening in the chamber for guiding the microwaves generated by the generator into the heating chamber from above, the wave guide being bent generally in the shape of the letter Z and the portion of the wave guide other than the portion adjacent the opening into said heating chamber being spaced from the walls of the heating chamber. Thermal insulation is provided between the chamber and the portion of the wave guide spaced from the walls of the chamber.

An improved choke seal arrangement, in a microwave oven, in which a slit structure is provided to prevent leakage of microwave energy around the periphery of the door. The slit structure, which has been provided in one of the walls defining the choke cavity in the prior art choke seal arrangement, is provided in a door wall portion spaced apart from the choke cavity so as to facilitate mechanical formation of the choke cavity and also to prevent deformation of the choke cavity wall during use. The choke seal arrangement permits the gap between the wall of the choke cavity and the confronting inner wall of the heating chamber to be smaller than hitherto, and the microwave seal performance further improved.

High frequency heating apparatus

The invention is related to improvements in a cooking appliance equipped with both a microwave heating means and a hot air circulation heating means. By controlling the rotational speed of an air circulating fan or the power of heater means according to the kind of food to be cooked, the cooking time is shortened and the quality of cooked food is improved. The hot air discharging section of such an oven includes a perforated plate so as to prevent leakage of microwaves from the heating chamber, and an air baffle means is provided strategically in the hot air discharging section to ensure a uniform distribution of temperature within the heating chamber. The invention also includes an improved relative position of the air inlets, a double-deck tray and the air baffle means which functions to prevent a substantive dehydration of food which is a drawback of a conventional hot air circulation heating system.

The present invention is a microwave oven having a rotary antenna with a substantially tubular L-shaped configuration from which microwaves are radiated into a heating cavity. This antenna is constituted by a first antenna portion, which extends from and is perpendicularly to a wall of the heating cavity in the microwave oven and has a length substantially equal to a quarter of the wavelength, and a second antenna portion which extends parallel to the wall and has a length substantially equal to half the wavelength so as to distribute the microwaves evenly inside the heating cavity.

A microwave heating apparatus has a body with a front wall, and a heating chamber within the body for holding an object to be heated. A microwave source is provided for generating microwaves, and a wave guide is connected between the microwave source and a microwave inlet for guiding the microwaves from the microwave source to the heating chamber. A radiant energy heater is disposed within the heating chamber for heating the object to be heated by radiant energy, and a power box is positioned above the chamber and housing the microwave source and the high voltage circuit components therefor. A microwave source cooling fan is provided in the power box, and thermal insulation covers the walls of the heating chamber, the upper surface of the thermal insulation on the top of the chamber and the bottom surface of the power box being spaced to provide a cooling conduit. The front wall of the body has an air suction inlet therein opening into one end of the cooling conduit, and a power box cooling fan is provided at the other end of the cooling conduit. The power box has a suction port therein opening into the cooling conduit upstream of the power box cooling fan for admitting air from the cooling conduit into the power box, the microwave source cooling fan and the power box cooling fan being in parallel flow relation.

A cooking device with one cooking or heating chamber in which food may be heated by either one or both of high-frequency heating means and the resistance heating means. The high-frequency or microwave energy is radiated into the heating chamber from the top while the air heated to high temperatures by the resistance heating means disposed within a rear chamber defined back of the rear wall of the heating chamber is circulated therethrough by a circulation fan. Food charges are placed on a receptacle which in turn is placed on a turntable, whereby the food charges may be uniformly heated. The simultaneous use of both the high frequency heating means and the resistance heating means may enable a more wide variety of food to be cooked by a more wide variety of methods.

A high voltage switch for use in a microwave oven is disclosed which switches a high voltage by an external electric signal. The high voltage switch includes a slider guide chamber of insulative material between a contact making and breaking chamber for switching the high voltage and an electromagnet device to which a low voltage is applied and which serves as a power source for making and breaking the contact, so that the high voltage section is isolated from the low voltage section. An insulative slider extends through the slider guide chamber, and an armature which is directly driven by the electromagnet device and a conducting movable member having a movable contact mounted in the contact making and breaking chamber are linked by the insulative slider. The armature and the conducting movable member are pivotably mounted at their ends so that the drive operation by the electromagnet device is amplified to break the contact. As a result, a small electromagnet device of the A.C. drive type by used resulting in the remarkable improvement of insulation ability, durability and reliability and a simple and compact structure.

The distances between the shielding member and plurality of glass plate members are such that a composite-impedance Z.sub.T made up of the impedance of the shielding member, the impedance of the glass plate members and the impedance of the space around the heating apparatus becomes approximately equal to or smaller than the composite impedance Z.sub.s made up of the impedance of the shielding member and the impedance of the external space in the absence of the glass plate member for reducing microwave leakage at the front portion of the door assembly.
