A motor includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor can rotate about a central axis extending in an axial direction. The stator includes a stator core having an annular shape surrounding the central axis. The rotor includes a cylindrical portion, a first plate portion, a second plate portion, and a hole. The cylindrical portion is arranged on a radially outer side with respect to the stator and extends in the axial direction. The first plate portion is arranged on a first axial side with respect to the stator, and expands radially inward from a first axial end of the cylindrical portion. The second plate portion is arranged on a second axial side with respect to the stator, and expands radially inward from a second axial end of the cylindrical portion. The hole penetrates at least one of the cylindrical portion, the first plate portion, and the second plate portion.

Motor and aircraft

A motor includes a rotor and a stator including a stator core including a core back and teeth, and a coil including a conductor including a wound portion wound around the teeth and an end extending from the wound portion. An axial position of the end is within a range from an end on one side to an end on the other side in an axial direction of the wound portion.

A spindle motor includes a shaft, a base part, a stator core, a rotor, and a bearing part. The shaft extends along a center axis extending in the vertical direction and has a screw hole extending axially downward from the upper end thereof. The screw hole has a screw part onto which a screw is screwed. The bearing part includes an upper annular member, a lower annular member, and a sleeve. The upper annular member and the lower annular member protrude radially outward from an outer peripheral surface of the shaft and are disposed to be spaced apart from each other in the axial direction. The sleeve covers the outer peripheral surface of the shaft, extends in the axial direction, and is defined in a cylindrical shape. The upper end of the upper annular member is disposed lower than the lower end of the screw part in the axial direction.

Spindle motor with bearing part arrangement and disk driving device having same

A stator core of a motor includes a disk portion and a pole-tooth yoke. The disk portion has a disk shape that extends in a radial direction around a central axis extending in a vertical direction. The pole-tooth yoke is located along a radially outer end of the disk portion. The pole-tooth yoke includes an annular portion and a pole tooth. The annular portion is connected to the radially outer end of the disk portion and extends in a circumferential direction. The pole tooth protrudes to one axial side from the annular portion. The disk portion and the pole-tooth yoke are defined by different members.

Stator core and motor

A spindle motor includes a base, a shaft arranged on the base and extending in a vertical direction, a stator having a coil defined by a wound conductive wire and arranged on an upper surface of the base, and a rotor rotatably supported around the shaft. The base has a through hole that penetrates the base from the upper surface to a lower surface. The conductive wire is drawn out to the lower surface side through the inside of the through hole. The through hole is sealed by a sealing material. The through hole includes a columnar lower column body and a columnar upper column body. The lower column body is arranged on the lower surface side of the base. A cross-sectional area of the upper column body orthogonal to an axial direction is smaller than a cross-sectional area of the lower column body orthogonal to the axial direction.

Spindle motor and disk drive device including the same

This motor includes a stationary portion including a stator; and a rotating portion supported to be rotatable about a central axis extending in a vertical direction with respect to the stationary portion, and including a shaft arranged to extend along the central axis. The stationary portion includes a bearing arranged to rotatably support the shaft, and a base portion arranged to hold the stator. The rotating portion includes a rotor hub portion arranged to extend in an annular shape around the shaft; a magnet directly or indirectly fixed to the rotor hub portion, and arranged opposite to the stator; a flywheel arranged axially above the rotor hub portion; and a seal portion arranged to have a thickness smaller than the thickness of the magnet. At least a portion of an outer circumferential surface of the rotor hub portion is a metal surface. The metal surface has a reflectivity higher than the reflectivity of an outer circumferential surface of the flywheel and the reflectivity of a surface of the seal portion. The metal surface is covered with the seal portion.

A pump a shaft portion arranged to extend in a vertical direction; a rotor portion arranged to surround an outer circumference of the shaft portion, and including a magnet; and a housing joined to the shaft portion, and arranged to contain the rotor portion. The housing includes a stator arranged opposite to the magnet; a rotor accommodating portion arranged to accommodate the rotor portion; and an inlet and an outlet each of which is arranged to pass through a portion of the rotor accommodating portion. A surface of at least one of the rotor portion, the shaft portion, and the rotor accommodating portion includes at least one first dynamic pressure groove arranged to support rotation of the rotor portion. A surface of at least one of the rotor portion and the rotor accommodating portion includes at least one second dynamic pressure groove arranged to transfer a fluid from the inlet to the outlet.

Dynamic pressure bearing pump

This bearing apparatus includes a shaft portion, a sleeve portion, and a fluid arranged between the shaft portion and the sleeve portion. A thrust dynamic pressure portion is filled with the fluid, and a surface of the fluid is defined in a seal portion. The thrust dynamic pressure portion includes a dynamic pressure generation portion including thrust dynamic pressure grooves, an intermediate portion arranged outside of the dynamic pressure generation portion and including an annular groove in the shape of a circular ring, and a discharge portion arranged outside of the annular groove and including discharge grooves. The annular groove is arranged to have a depth smaller than a minimum radial width of the seal portion. This makes it easier for any air bubble in the thrust dynamic pressure portion to travel into the seal portion in accordance with a flow of the fluid caused in the discharge portion to be discharged outward. This reduces the likelihood that any air bubble will stay in the vicinity of the dynamic pressure generation portion.

Bearing apparatus, spindle motor, and disk drive apparatus

A fluid bearing apparatus includes a stationary member and a rotating member. A bearing surface of the stationary member and a bearing surface of the rotating member are arranged opposite to each other with a minute gap intervening therebetween. A lubricating fluid is arranged in the minute gap. At least one of the bearing surfaces includes a dynamic pressure groove, and a plurality of striations defined in a bottom portion of the dynamic pressure groove. Each of the dynamic pressure groove and the striations is arranged to extend in a direction at an angle greater than 0&#xb0; to a circumferential direction. An angle defined between each striation and the circumferential direction is equal to or smaller than an angle defined between the dynamic pressure groove and the circumferential direction. Thus, an improvement in a force of dynamic pressure at the dynamic pressure groove is achieved.

In a motor, a lower thrust portion is defined by a flange portion extending radially outward from an outer circumferential surface of a shaft portion of a shaft and a plate portion extending radially inward from an inner circumferential surface of a cylindrical wall of a bearing cup portion which axially overlap with each other. The flange portion and the plate portion include a first adhesive portion radially opposed thereto and a second adhesive portion axially opposed thereto. An adhesive is located in each of the first adhesive portion and the second adhesive portion such that the shaft and the bearing cup portion have excellent bonding strength to withstand an axial load.

In a fluid dynamic bearing apparatus, an oil buffer is defined between a thrust gap and a pumping gap. The oil buffer has an axial dimension greater than that of the thrust gap, and/or has a radial dimension greater than that of the pumping gap. An air bubble generated in the thrust gap due to cavitation, for example, when a fluid dynamic bearing apparatus experiences a vibration can be dissolved in lubricating oil provided within the oil buffer. This prevents leakage of the lubricating oil due to the air bubble residing in the fluid dynamic bearing apparatus.

Fluid dynamic bearing apparatus, spindle motor, and disk drive apparatus

A base plate of a spindle motor includes a bottom plate portion and a wall portion. The bottom plate portion extends perpendicularly or substantially perpendicularly to a rotation axis. The wall portion extends in an axial direction from a radially outer edge portion of the bottom plate portion. The bottom plate portion includes a cup portion and an outer bottom plate portion. The cup portion is arranged radially inward of the wall portion, and includes a recessed upper surface. The outer bottom plate portion is arranged to extend between the cup portion and the wall portion. The base plate includes a first member made of a first type of metallic material, and a second member made of a second type of metallic material having a Young's modulus greater than that of the first type of metallic material.

Spindle motor and disk drive apparatus

A motor includes a stationary portion and a rotating portion. The rotating portion includes a sleeve portion. The sleeve portion includes a communicating hole. A dynamic pressure bearing is defined in a first gap between a shaft portion and the sleeve portion. An upper seal portion and a lower seal portion are arranged radially outward of the dynamic pressure bearing. The upper seal portion and the lower seal portion are arranged in communication with each other through the communicating hole. The communicating hole and a space extending from the upper seal portion to the lower seal portion through the first gap are filled with a lubricating oil. A fixing region where an outer tubular portion and a base portion are fixed to each other is arranged to overlap with the dynamic pressure bearing in a radial direction in plan view.

Spindle motor with fluid dynamic bearing and storage disk drive

A dynamic pressure bearing is defined in a first gap between a shaft portion and a sleeve portion. An upper seal portion extending upward and a lower seal portion extending downward are arranged radially outward of the dynamic pressure bearing. Each of the upper seal portion and the lower seal portion includes a surface including a lubricating oil located therein. The upper seal portion and the lower seal portion are arranged in communication with each other through a communicating hole defined in the sleeve portion. The communicating hole and a space ranging from the upper seal portion to the lower seal portion through the first gap are filled with the lubricating oil. The axial distance between the surfaces of the lubricating oil in the upper seal portion and the lower seal portion is arranged to be shorter than the axial distance between an upper end and a lower end of the dynamic pressure bearing.
