The electronic device includes a display, a memory, and a processor operatively connected to the display and the memory, wherein the processor may be configured to display a screen composed of a plurality of windows corresponding to a plurality of applications on the display, detect an event for changing a layout of the plurality of windows, in response to the detection of the event, display, on the display, a plurality of recommended layouts in which the plurality of windows are arranged differently on the basis of an attribute of each of the plurality of applications and a state of the electronic device, and when one of the plurality of recommended layouts is selected, display, on the display, the plurality of windows to which the selected recommended layout is applied.
