The compositions comprise an effective repellent amount of one or more monoterpenoids, one or more sesquiterpenoids or a blend of one or more monoterpenoids and one or more sesquiterpenoids in combination with a carrier, wherein the compositions are formulated to repel a target pest from a target area. In one embodiment, the one or more monoterpenoids, and/or one or more sesquiterpenoids are from a biorational source, such as a plant volatile. In one embodiment, the one or more sesquiterpenoids are oxygen-containing sesquiterpenoids. In a particular embodiment, the plant volatile is a monoterpenoid, such as 'nepetalactone' (or the individual nepetalactone isomers) derived from catnip (). In another embodiment, the plant volatile is additionally or alternatively a sesquiterpenoid derived from the fruit of the Osage orange tree (), Siam wood or theplant. Such compositions have repellency, including long term repellency, against arthropods.

Biorational repellents obtained from terpenoids for use against arthropods

Soybean volatile compounds, soybean aphid-induced volatile compounds and soybean aphid sex pheromones are semiochemicals of the invention used to suppress soybean aphid population. Methyl salicylate is an embodiment of a soybean aphid-induced volatile compound useful in the invention. Benzaldehyde is an embodiment of a soybean host plant volatile compound useful in the invention. Also useful as sex pheromones are nepetalactol and nepetalactone. The compounds may be blended in a preferred embodiment.

Method for soybean aphid population suppression and monitoring using aphid- and host-plant-associated semiochemical compositions

This invention provides compositions and methods useful for repelling target pests. The invention provides methods and compositions useful for attracting predatory insects.

Attractants of beneficial insects

A Drosophila fruit fly attractant composition including: a volatile short chain carboxylic acid, a volatile short chain alcohol, a volatile aryl substituted alcohol, and a nitrogen compound. The invention also includes Drosophila fruit fly attractant-trapant compositions.
