Provided is a secondary battery including a pressure type current interrupt device with reduced welding failures and high productivity as a result. A secondary battery disclosed herein includes an electrode body, a battery case for housing the electrode body, an electrode terminal electrically connected to the electrode body, and a current interrupt device provided in a conduction path between the electrode body and the electrode terminal to interrupt the conduction path in response to increase in pressure in the battery case. The current interrupt device includes a rivet and a reverse plate welded to the rivet. The current interrupt device has one continuous welding mark. The one continuous welding mark has a circumferential part that is continuous circumferentially along an outer edge part of the reverse plate. The start and end points of the one continuous welding mark are positioned offset from the circumferential part.

Secondary battery and method for manufacturing same

A sealed battery includes an outer packaging body, a cover, and a welding portion. The outer packaging body has an internal space, and the internal space includes inert gas. The outer packaging body has an opening communicating with the internal space. The cover is configured to close the opening and to seal the internal space. The welding portion is provided on a boundary between the outer packaging body and the cover, and joins the outer packaging body to the cover. The welding portion is provided at a position higher than an uppermost part of the internal space in a state where the opening is opened in a vertically upward direction from the internal space toward an outside of the outer packaging body.

Sealed battery and manufacturing method thereof

A battery includes: a battery outer case; an electrode body; and a terminal. The case main body includes a bottomed case main body which has a flat accommodation space and of which one surface is opened, and a sealing plate attached to that one surface of the case main body which is opened. The electrode body is a flat electrode body, is accommodated in the flat accommodation space of the case main body, and has a part to which the terminal is joined. The terminal includes a base end attached to the sealing plate, an intermediate part extending from the base end toward the part to which the terminal is joined, along a surface on one side of the battery outer case, and a tip end joined to the part to which the terminal is joined. The tip end of the terminal is joined to a surface on one side of the part to which the terminal is joined, and pushes the part to which the terminal is joined.

Battery and battery manufacturing method

A battery includes a battery case; an outside member that is arranged on an outer portion of the battery case, and is made of an Al&#x2014;Mg alloy or Al&#x2014;Mg&#x2014;Si alloy; a collector member made of pure aluminum, which has i) an extending portion that extends from within the battery case, passes through a first through-hole provided in the battery case and a second through-hole in the outside member, and protrudes out of the battery case, and ii) a crimped portion that spreads out toward an outside of the second through-hole from the extending portion, and circularly covers a periphery of the second through-hole in the outside member; as well as a bead that electrically connects an outer peripheral edge portion of the crimped portion to the outside member; and an additional bead that is positioned farther toward a radial inside of the crimped portion than the bead.

Battery and manufacturing method for battery

Provided is a technique for suppressing welding faults caused in sealing a case of a sealed battery by laser welding. A step for manufacturing a sealed battery having a case sealed by a sealing plug and a sealing plate, which includes a sealing step for fitting the sealing plug into a pouring hole formed in a recess of a lid portion and inserting the sealing plate into the recess, and a welding step for joining the sealing plate to the recess by laser welding. In the sealing step, a heat-insulating member is provided in a minute space defined by the recess, the sealing plug and the sealing plate so as to block at least a part of the boundary portion between the sealing plate and the recess. In the welding step, welding is completed at a position where the heat-insulating member is present in the boundary portion.
