Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for providing a statement that references a particular attribute of a particular topic, in response to providing the statement, obtaining one or more query patterns that each include one or more query terms that are used in queries submitted to a search system in obtaining a value for the particular attribute of the particular topic, generalizing one or more of the query patterns, and associating the one or more generalized query patterns with one or more other topics that include the particular attribute.

Factual query pattern learning

A server device is configured to identify sub-pages corresponding to a particular webpage, where the particular webpage and the identified sub-pages may be associated with a same website; determine titles for the identified sub-pages; process the identified sub-pages to select a set of sub-pages, of the identified sub-pages, to use to generate a snippet for the particular webpage, where each webpage, in the set of sub-pages, may satisfy particular criteria, and a quantity of the set of sub-pages may be based on a length of a concatenation of the titles for the set of sub-pages; generate the snippet, for the particular webpage, using the titles for the set of sub-pages; and store the generated snippet in association with the particular webpage, where the generated snippet may be presented in a search result document when the particular webpage is identified as being relevant to a search query.

Synthesis of webpage snippets using sub-pages of the webpage

The present disclosure describes systems and methods for presenting document-specific snippets for documents in site-specific search results. One example method according to the present disclosure includes determining a set of documents that are responsive to a search query, the set of documents including (i) a first document and (ii) a second document that is referenced by the first document, identifying a set of representative keywords associated with the second document, identifying a snippet that (i) is associated with the second document, and (ii) includes one or more terms from the set of representative keywords, and providing a search results page that identifies the first document, the second document, and the snippet.
