A connection control apparatus includes a monitoring unit, a determining unit, a transferring unit, and a notifying unit. The monitoring unit monitors a status of a communication terminal. The determining unit determines, on a basis of a monitoring result, whether or not the communication terminal is able to respond to a connection request therefor. The transferring unit transfers the connection request to the communication terminal when the transferring unit has received a connection request for the communication terminal and the determining unit determines that the communication terminal is able to respond to the connection request. The notifying unit calls attention around the connection control apparatus when the determining unit determines that the communication terminal is unable to respond to the connection request after the transferring unit has received the connection request.

A packet transfer scheme in a network system capable of realizing a high speed, large capacity inter-network communication under an internet environment. A network interconnection apparatus (router) has a memory for storing a correspondence relationship between a virtual connection used in receiving a packet from one logical network and a virtual connection used in transmitting a packet to another logical network, and a transfer at a datalink layer is carried out according to the registered correspondence relationship, to effectively form a bypass pipe capable of transferring a packet by an datalink layer level processing alone over a plurality of networks from the transmission terminal to the destination terminal, so that a high speed packet transfer between networks can be realized.

Communication packets having a same channel identifier are exchanged between a pair of Bluetooth devices within a Bluetooth network. The packets are passed to a lower level layer through a connection handle in which their requested quality of service is indicated. In the lower level layer, the communication packets are distributed to buffers, each of which corresponds to each type of quality of service set in the connection handle. Alternatively, a service identifier corresponding to the quality of service is given to the communication packets in the lower level layer, and the packets are distributed to a suitable buffer based on the service identifier.

Broadcast type service system using bluetooth type radio network

A wireless network system capable of controlling highly efficient transfer of AV data by an upper application, using information indicating a wireless link condition that varies dynamically is disclosed. In this wireless network system, a wireless terminal and a wire gateway apparatus each store collected wireless link condition information in a descriptor. An upper application on the wireless terminal reads the descriptor at said terminal device and obtains wireless LAN link condition information. The wireless gateway apparatus makes notification to a wireless terminal of a VTR, for example, that actually exists in a 1394 terminal as if it existed as a sub-unit in the local terminal device. The wireless terminal accesses the collected wireless link condition information and selects a AV/C command to be sent to the VTR sub-unit of the wireless gateway apparatus. The wireless terminal transfers the play command for playback to the wireless gateway apparatus. The wireless gateway apparatus transfers the play command to a VTR sub-unit within a terminal on the wired network. In accordance with this action, the VTR sub-unit within the terminal on the wired network starts transfer of AV data.

A packet transfer scheme for transferring packets at a boundary of a plurality networks is disclosed. A network interconnection apparatus (router) communicates with a previous hop node in one of the plurality of networks by a first control message including a first identification information for identifying an upstream path from the previous hop node and a specification information for specifying a group of packets to be transferred on the upstream path, and with a next hop node in another of the plurality of networks by a second control message including a second identification information for identifying a downstream path to the next hop node and a specification information for specifying a group of packets to be transferred on the downstream path. Then, the network interconnection apparatus stores a first identifier at a layer lower than layer of the upstream path and a second identifier at a layer lower than layer of the downstream path corresponding to the upstream path, according to the first and second control messages, and transfers a packet from the upstream path to the corresponding downstream path, referring to the memory.
