A toothed belt has a plurality of teeth, which are arranged in the longitudinal direction thereof, and cords embedded in a back portion of the toothed belt. A facing fabric is covered over the teeth. The fabric used for the facing fabric is coated with latex. The solid deposition of latex is adjusted to between 50 and 200 wt % with respect to the weight of the base cloth.

An antifouling paint composition comprising a binder resin composition containing a biodegradable resin being obtained by polymerizing a cyclic lactone compound with at least two active hydrogen groups of a compound containing at least two active hydrogen groups in one molecule, and an antifouling additive being mixed with the binder resin composition in a weight ratio of the binder resin composition to the antifouling additive from 1:2 to 7:1, the binder resin composition having a gel fraction of not more than 5% by weight.

A method for preventing settlement of aquatic fouling organisms on surface of an aquatic structure without environmental hazard is provided. The method is based upon absolutely novel concept to prevent the settlement by means of thick slime layer, i.e. bio-jelly, deposited on said surface. The present invention also provides a bio-jelly producing agent and a bio-jelly producing paint both useful for the present method. Further, the present invention provides a novel low toxic antifouling agent.

Method for preventing settlement of aquatic fouling organisms

An antifouling composition for coating fishnets consisting essentially of (A) at least one phenol compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## or the formula: ##STR2## (in which Y is hydrogen atom or hydroxyl group; ##STR3## m is 0 or 1; n is an integer of 1-5; R is a linear or branched alkyl having 4 to 21 carbon atoms), (B) at least one water-repellent organic compound selected from silicone oil, petroleum wax and liquid paraffins, and (C) at least one antifouling agent selected from fluorodichloromethyl thiophthalimide, dimethylphenyl fluorodichloromethyl thiosulfamide and dichlorophenyl dimethyl urea, the amount of said (C) being 0.5-20 wt % of the total of (A)+(B)+(C). The present antifouling composition is specifically effective for the prevention of attachment, and proliferation of noxious aquatic organisms including both of an animal and botanical nature.

Antifouling composition

An antifouling paint containing as an active component, in an amount of 5 to 100% by weight of the non-volatile of the paint, an alkylphenoxy group containing organo-silicon compound selected from an organo-silane, a bis-silyl compound and a polysiloxane, the alkyl being a straight or branched C.sub.7 to C.sub.12 alkyl of the formula: C.sub.x H.sub.2x+1 (in which x is 7 to 12) or a 1-methyl-1-phenylethyl group. The novel antifouling paint of the invention can afford a long-lasting, strong antifouling effect when used as a marine paint.

Antifouling paint

A bioactive substance control-releasing resinous composition comprising a resin having main chain and side chains, at least one side chain bearing at the end portion thereof an organic acid moiety having a biological activity, through a metal ester bonding. The resin is hydrolyzed in an ionic atmosphere at a controlled rate to generate a bioactive substance as well as metal ions and is useful in various fields and especially as a resinous vehicle for a coating composition.

A toothed belt of the present invention comprises a back surface section and tooth sections that are made of an acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer (NBR) with a hydrogenation rate of 90% or more; a tooth cloth that covers the surface of the tooth sections and tooth lands, the tooth cloth being made of an industrial nylon raw fiber with a viscosity relative to sulfuric acid of 2.45 to 2.53, a tensile strength of 5 g/denier or more, and a fineness of single fibers of 5 denier or less and being treated with resorcinol-formaldehyde-latex (RFL) liquid in which resorcinol-formaldehyde resin is mixed with a hydrogenated NBR as a latex component; and core fibers with a core diameter of 0.63 to 0.85 mm, the core fibers being made of twisted bundles of glass fibers of high strength.

An antifouling paint containing a copolymer including a recurring unit of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen atom, methyl or an alkoxycarbonyl, R.sup.2 is hydrogen atom or an alkoxycarbonyl, A is an acid ion-terminated pendant group, M is a transitional metal ion, L is a monobasic organic acid ion, and m is the valency of the transitional metal M; and an amount of an organic ligand capable of coordinating to the transitional metal. The ion-association and reactivity of the metal in the copolymer may be retarded by complexing with the organic ligand in situ.

Antifouling paint compositions

An antifouling composition for use in the control of noxious aquatic life comprising as an active ingredient, one or more phenol derivatives of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a C.sub.3 .about.C.sub.21 saturated hydrocarbon residue; X.sub.1 .about.X.sub.5 each is H, HO or CH.sub.3 O, providing excluding the case wherein all of X.sub.1 .about.X.sub.5 are hydrogen. This composition is useful as an antifouling paint for marine structures, ships, fishnets, buoys, industrial water system, water cooling system and the like.

New tetraarylboron-ammonium complexes having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen or a halogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R.sub.2 represents a halogen atom or a lower alkyl or a lower alkenyl group; and R.sub.3 represents a heterocyclic amine are provided as active ingredient of anti-fouling paint and also of antiseptic, antifungal agent. These compounds exhibit remarkably long-lasting anti-fouling activities against substantially all kinds of aquatic organisms including slimes with acceptably low toxicity against human beings and also exhibit high antimicrobial activities against various fungi, bacteria and yeasts.
