A liquid ejection head includes a recording element substrate that ejects liquid, and an element-substrate support member to which the recording element substrate is bonded with an adhesive. A groove to be filled with the adhesive is provided in a bonding region of the element-substrate support member, at which the element-substrate support member and the recording element substrate are bonded together, along a part or an entirety of the outer circumference of the recording element substrate.

Liquid ejection head and method of manufacturing the same

The liquid ejecting head includes a printing element board having a plurality of printing elements for producing energy used to eject liquid, a contact board having a contact terminal for electrically connecting to a liquid ejection printing apparatus, and a functional element, and a plurality of lands which are provided on a face of the contact board where the functional element is mounted, and to which terminals of the functional element are connected. In addition, a wiring member connects the printing element board to the contact board, a first terminal is configured to be electrically connected to the printing element board, and a second terminal is configured to not be electrically connected to the printing element board, with both terminals disposed on one edge of the contact board. A first wiring connects the contact terminal to the first terminal, a second wiring connects at least one of the plurality of lands to the second terminal, and insulating resin covers an edge face of the second terminal positioned on the one edge of the contact board.

Liquid ejecting head and liquid ejection printing apparatus

An ink jet recording head includes a recording element substrate including an ejection outlet array consisting of a plurality of arranged ejection outlets for ejecting ink, a plurality of heat generating elements, provided correspondingly to the ejection outlets, for generating thermal energy for ejecting the ink, and a supply port, formed along the ejection outlet array in an elongated hole-like shape, for supplying the ink to the ejection outlets; and a supporting member, having a supply flow passage communicating with the supply port, for supporting the recording element substrate. The supporting member is provided with at least two beams each extending over an opening of the supply flow passage in a widthwise direction of the supply flow passage and having a width W with respect to a longitudinal direction of the supply flow passage. At least two beams described above are disposed within a range from a center of the supply flow passage with respect to the longitudinal direction toward both longitudinal end sides of the supply flow passage by 2.5 W for each of the end sides and are spaced 2 mm or more apart.

A method for producing a liquid discharge head provided with a head main body including plural energy generating elements for generating energy for discharging liquid as a flying liquid droplet, and plural liquid paths in which the energy generating elements are respectively provided, and an orifice plate adjoined to the head main body and provided with plural discharge ports respectively communicating with the liquid paths and plural independent projections formed around the discharge ports and respectively corresponding to the discharge ports so as to enter into the liquid paths and to engage therewith. The method includes steps of forming the plural projections and the discharge ports while a continuous resinous film is transported; separating the film in a continuous manner in a predetermined size including the portion on which the discharge ports are formed, thereby preparing the orifice plate; and adjoining the orifice plate to the head main body.

Method of producing a liquid discharge head

A liquid discharge head having plural liquid paths and plural discharge openings is formed by joining an adhesion face of an orifice plate with an adhesion face of a head main body&mdash;The liquid paths are formed upon joining an element substrate and a ceiling substrate which comprise the head main body. Apertures of the liquid paths are provided in the adhesion face of the head main body, and a protruding portion is provided in the adhesion face of the orifice plate. The protruding portion has a shape corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of one of the liquid paths, and one of the discharge openings is provided in the protruding portion. The protruding portion or a part thereof fits into one of the liquid paths, and is inserted into the liquid path for joining the adhesion face of the orifice plate with the adhesion face of the head main body.

Method of making an ink-jet recording head

A liquid discharge head having plural liquid paths and plural discharge openings is formed by joining an adhesion face of an orifice plate with an adhesion face of a head main body. The liquid paths are provided in the head main body, and the adhesion face of the head main body has apertures of the liquid paths. The adhesion face of the orifice plate has recessed portions and protruding portions. The protruding portions have a shape corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the liquid paths, and the discharge openings are provided in the protruding portions. The protruding portions or parts thereof fit into the liquid paths, and are inserted into the liquid paths for joining the adhesion face of the orifice plate with the adhesion face of the head main body.

A method for manufacturing a liquid discharge head comprises the steps of providing a head main body having liquid flow paths, and an aperture surface having flow path openings communicated with the flow paths; providing a discharge port plate having extrusions each on the circumference of an inside opening communicated with each of the discharge ports, being on the inner face on the side opposite to the discharge port surface provided with discharge ports for discharging liquid, and a base having a substantially flat surface. For this method, the discharge port plate is arranged in a state of these surfaces formed integrally to be in contact; bonding the aperture surface and the inner face to fit the extrusions into the flow path openings by pressing the head main body and the base in the direction of the head main body and the base approaching each other with the discharge port plate between them; and separating the base from other members. With the method of manufacture thus structure, the liquid discharge head presents an excellent discharge efficiency by the provision of the extrusions that enter the flow paths from the orifice plate. It also becomes possible to manufacture a highly reliable liquid discharge head by a simpler manufacturing apparatus in a shorter period of time at lower costs.

Liquid discharge head, method of manufacture therefor and liquid discharge recording apparatus

It is an object of the present invention to ensure a desired precision in positioning an orifice plate with respect to liquid flow paths of a head main body, so as to prevent a failure liquid discharge which will possibly be caused due to a problem involved in a process of forming the orifice holes. In detail, a head main body is formed on the lower wall thereof a plurality of heating elements, has a plurality of liquid flow paths formed by dividing an internal space with a plurality of liquid flow path walls and arranged in parallel relationship with one another. On either side of the plurality of the liquid flow paths there are formed two dummy liquid flow paths. An orifice plate is formed with a plurality of orifice holes arranged in parallel with one another for discharging ink. Further, on either side of the plurality of the orifice holes there are formed two projected portions so shaped that they are capable of engaging with the opening ends of the dummy liquid flow paths. Each of the projected portions is formed with a dummy orifice hole which is not used for discharging ink during recording operation. A desired positioning can be effected by engaging the projected portions of the orifice plate with the dummy liquid flow paths.

Liquid discharge head, method of manufacturing the liquid discharge head, and liquid discharge recording apparatus using the liquid discharge head

In a liquid discharge head having an orifice plate in which a plurality of discharge ports for discharging liquid droplets therethrough are arranged, and a head body provided with a plurality of flow paths communicating with the plurality of discharge ports, a liquid chamber for supplying liquid to the plurality of flow paths, and a plurality of energy generation elements disposed correspondingly to the plurality of flow paths and generating energy for discharging the liquid droplets, the orifice plate being joined to the joined surface of the head body in which the communication ports of the flow paths communicating with the discharge ports are disposed, the orifice plate is formed with wall-shaped convex portions protruding from the inner peripheral portions of the discharge ports and having at least a portion thereof entering from the communication ports into the flow paths, and the width of the wall-shaped convex portions is greater in the portions thereof parallel to the row direction in which the plurality of discharge ports are arranged than in the portions thereof orthogonal to the row direction.

Liquid discharge head and method of manufacturing the same

A method for manufacturing an orifice plate with a plate material having a through hole arranged to become an orifice for discharging liquid comprises the steps of arranging a resin layer in a position corresponding to the through hole on the surface of a conductive substrate in a configuration corresponding to the through hole in a thickness corresponding at least to the lenght of the through hole, forming a metallic layer by means of electro-forming on the exposed surface of a portion of the conductive substrated corresponding to the plate material in a thickness corresponding to the thickness of the plate material in order to obtain the metallic layer in a state where the resin layer is filled in the through hole portion, applying water repellent resin to the surface of the metallic layer having the resin layer filled therein, peeling off the metallic layer from the conductive substrate together with the resin layer to obtain the plate material in a state where the through hole portion is filled with the resin layer, and removing by laser irradiation the resin layer portion of the plate material in a state where the resin layer is filled in the through hole portion having the water repellent layer coated on the surface in order to form the through hole.

Method for manufacturing orifice plate and liquid discharge head

A liquid jet recording head comprises a first substrate having a plurality of discharge energy generating devices formed thereon, and a second substrate having a discharge opening plate provided with a plurality of discharge openings for discharging ink, and recessed portions becoming ink flow paths conductively connected with said discharge openings, and a common liquid chamber for retaining ink to be supplied to each of said discharge openings, respectively. The ink flow paths and common liquid chamber are formed by joining the first substrate and second substrate with the discharge energy generating devices of the first substrate facing the recessed portions becoming ink flow paths of the second substrate, at the same time, the joint between the first substrate and second substrate being sealed by sealing compound, and fine grains inclusively residing on the joint between the first substrate and second substrate. With the liquid jet recording head thus structured, there is no possibility that sealing compound flows into the ink flow paths and discharge openings even if the joint between the first and second substrates are sealed by sealing compound, and that any defective prints take place. The production yield in the sealing step of manufacture is increased, at the same time, the controlling burden is lightened.
