A recording device includes: a line head movable to a recording position to perform recording on a medium and to a retracted position where the recording unit is retracted in a first direction from the recording position; a first control board; a cable configured to electrically couple the line head to the first control board; a side frame provided between the line head and the first control board; and a hole through which the cable passes, the hole being provided in the side frame, wherein a diameter of the hole in the first direction is longer than a distance between a position of a passing portion corresponding to the recording position and a position of the passing portion corresponding to the retracted position, the passing portion being a portion of the cable passing through the hole.

A developing device that can be mounted to and dismounted from a mounting and dismounting section provided in an image forming apparatus main unit, the developing device includes: a developing device main unit; a positioning member for positioning the developing device main unit with respect to the mounting and dismounting section by engaging the mounting and dismounting section when the developing device is mounted to the mounting and dismounting section, the positioning member being fixed on a one end side in a longitudinal direction of the developing device main unit; a coupling member that is to be coupled to the mounting and dismounting section when the developing device is mounted to the mounting and dismounting section, the coupling member being attached to the other end side in the longitudinal direction of the developing device main unit in such a manner that its relative position to the developing device main unit can be changed; and an element capable of communication in a noncontacting manner with the image forming apparatus main unit side when the developing device is mounted to the mounting and dismounting section, the element being provided at the one end side in the longitudinal direction of the developing device main unit.

Image forming apparatus to which attachment unit can be connected

A connector with a built-in memory IC which is mounted on a rotary development unit of a printer. The memory IC substrate is disposed within a contact protecting member and behind the rear side of an impact receiving member. A first electric contact is disposed on the front side of the impact receiving member and is connected to a second electric contact via a conductive member. The second electric contact spring contacts the memory IC substrate. The connector contains guide members to help stabilize the connection between the connector and the body side connector of the printer.
