A decorative part comprising a hardening layer having a pink Au alloy coating film on a surface of the part. The hardening layer is obtainable by laminating a base layer, a primary layer and a finishing layer from the side of a substrate. The base layer comprises a metal layer comprising one metal or two or more metals selected from Hf, Ti and Zr and, superimposed thereon, a compound layer comprising the same metal constituting the metal layer and further comprising nitrogen, carbon or oxygen. The primary layer has a laminating structure such that an Au alloy layer, and a compound layer comprising one metal or two or more metals selected from Hf, Ti and Zr and further comprising nitrogen, carbon or oxygen are laminated one after the other. The finishing layer comprises an Au alloy layer.

The catalytic combustion type gas sensor includes a sensing element, a heat conducting layer of which includes boron nitride. The boron nitride content is from 30 wt % to 100 wt % of a material (such as alumina) that would be a base material having the highest proportion in a conventional heat conducting layer without boron nitride. A catalyst layer of the sensing element also includes boron nitride. The boron nitride content is from 10 wt % to 80 wt % of a material (such as tin oxide) that would be a base material having the highest proportion in a conventional catalyst layer without boron nitride.

An outer casing for a gas sensor includes a cap, a mount base, and a heat shielding board. The cap, the mount base, and the heat shielding board are made of gas permeable ceramics. A target gas flows inside the gas sensor with the above outer casing from all directions, and makes the gas sensor highly responsive to the target gas. The outer casing also contributes to make temperature and humidity inside the gas sensor uniform in a short time, thereby stabilizing an output voltage of the gas sensor.
