A photocatalyst coated body includes a base and a photocatalyst layer provided on the base. The photocatalyst coated body is characterized in that photocatalyst layer contains 1-20 (inclusive) parts by mass of photocatalyst particles, 30-98 (inclusive) parts by mass of silica particles and 1-50 (inclusive) parts by mass of zirconia particles, so that the total all of these particles is 100 parts by mass. The photocatalyst coated body is also characterized in that the zirconia particles are at least one kind of particles selected from the group consisting of crystalline zirconia particles having an average crystallite diameter of 10 nm or less and amorphous zirconia particles. Such photocatalyst coated body has excellent photocatalytic degradation function and excellent weather resistance; and also it is capable of suppressing the formation of intermediate products such as NO, while increasing the amount of NOremoved during removal of NOin the air.

A photocatalyst-coated body includes a substrate with an organic material as a surface thereof, a photocatalyst layer with interstices between the particles in the layer and an intermediate layer provided between the substrate and the photocatalyst layer. A photocatalyst-coated body and a photocatalytic coating liquid which exert an excellent weather resistance, harmful gas decomposability, and other desired characteristics (such as transparency and film strength), while preventing erosion of the substrate are provided. The photocatalyst-coated body comprises a substrate and a photocatalytic layer provided on the substrate. The antifouling material comprises: a substrate; and an inorganic layer consisting essentially of an amorphous metal oxide, the inorganic layer containing an alkali metal and non-bridging oxygen in an amount effective in removing contaminants, derived from an exhaust gas, adhered on the surface of the inorganic layer by cleaning using running water alone to restore the diffuse reflectance of the surface of the inorganic layer to not less than 75% of the initial diffuse reflectance, the inorganic layer constituting the outermost fixed layer of the antifouling material.
