An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a device for forming an image on the image bearing member; a transfer device for transferring the image from the image bearing member onto a recording material, the transfer device is in the form of a roller contactable to the image bearing member in its longitudinal direction; and a guiding member for guiding the recording material to a neighborhood of the image bearing member; wherein a positional relationship between the transfer device and the guide member is fixed, and wherein the transfer device is swingable toward and away from the image bearing member.

A paper feeder for an electronic copying machine or the like has a plurality of cassettes for storing paper sheets, feeding mechanisms for feeding the paper sheets from a selected cassette, detectors for detecting the size, feeding direction or presence or absence of the paper sheets in the selected cassette, a CPU for performing an automatic change from a cassette with no paper sheets to a cassette storing paper sheets of the same size and feeding direction, and an automatic changer for prohibiting or selecting the automatic changing mode. An accidental automatic change between the cassettes is prevented.

There is provided a recording apparatus including a holder member upon which an image is formed by scanning a modulated beam, a transfer device for transferring the formed image to a continuous transfer material, a transfer material transporting device for loading the continuous transfer paper and a feeding device for feeding the transfer material. The transfer material transporting device includes a set of members which open to accommodate the transfer material, a holder for retaining the transfer material, an endless rotary member which moves the holder through the open members and a control for controlling the opening and closing of the members. The feeding device includes an index and a transporting mechanism for moving the continuous transfer material a distance corresponding to the distance between the index and transfer device. The feeding device also includes another transport mechanism, both transport mechanisms beginning and stopping at different times. The recording apparatus is also provided with a potential measuring head located along the scanning path but not beyond the print end region on the holder member.

A laser recording apparatus includes a laser optical unit having an integral combination of a laser for emitting a laser beam and an optical system for converting the laser beam into an expanded and collimated beam; a deflector unit for directly receiving the laser beam emergent from the laser optical unit and directing the laser beam toward a recording medium; a photoreceptor unit having an integral combination of a reflecting member for reflecting the laser beam deflected by the deflector unit and a photoreceptor for receiving the laser beam reflected by the reflecting member; a support member having standard portions respectively for mounting the laser optical unit, the deflector unit and the photoreceptor unit.

Laser recording apparatus

In a paper feed device having a storage for storing thereon a pile of paper leaves and a device for feeding the paper leaves piled on the storage, there is provided separating apparatus for separating an uppermost one of the paper leaves to be fed by the feeding device from the other paper leaves and a blower disposed adjacent to the rear end of the piled paper leaves with respect to the direction of the feed thereof for blowing a flow of pressurized fluid in the direction of feed of the paper leaves. The blower is movable for retraction with respect to the rear end of the piled paper leaves.

Paper feed device

An optic axis adjusting mirror device used with a system in which a light beam such as a laser beam or the like is used and modulated by information signals and caused to scan a medium by a scanning optical system. The device includes an adjuster capable of freely adjusting the angle at which the mirror is mounted to vary the direction of reflection of the light beam as it impinges on the mirror, and detecting jigs for detecting the position of the light beam as it impinges on the mirror and for detecting whether or not the optic axis lies at a predetermined position. The device contributes to highly accurate beam scanning.
