Plural spline shafts are arranged around columnar plasma, and plural spline shafts are coaxially aligned in a direction that the columnar plasma extends within a vacuum chamber. The plural coaxially aligned spline shafts are positioned so that axial gap is formed between the respective male spline sections. The axial gap of the plural male spline sections is positioned at a center of the columnar plasma in the direction that the columnar plasma extends.

Method for forming DLC film on spline shaft and hot cathode PIG plasma CVD device

A clutch plate in an annular shape, the clutch plate includes: a plurality of lubricating grooves on one end face and the other end face of the clutch plate in an axial direction; and a plurality of windows passing through the clutch plate in the axial direction. The lubricating grooves are formed with plastic deformation, in a same phase on both the end faces, and extended up to outer peripheral edges and inner peripheral edges of both the end faces. A plurality of intersection points where the lubricating grooves intersect with each other are positioned in other areas than at least one of the outer peripheral edges, radially outer edges of the windows, radially inner edges of the windows, and the inner peripheral edges, of both the end faces.

Clutch plate and method of producing same

In a clutch plate of an annular shape and a wet type, a plurality of lubrication grooves each taking a U-shape in cross-section are formed on a friction engaging surface on at least one end side. The groove is provided with a groove forming portion crossing the circumferential direction and blunt portions extending along both sides of the groove forming portion and connecting the friction engaging surface with the groove forming portion. Where a straight line passing across one side end of the groove and extending in a radial direction is assumed as a virtual straight line, in a section of the groove taken along a plane that is orthogonal to the virtual straight line and that includes the one side end, the width of the blunt portion on one side is in a range of 0.12 to 0.35 mm, and the depth of the blunt portion is in a range of 25 to 50 &#x3bc;m.

Clutch plate

A clutch plate arranged to face a contact object so as to be relatively rotatable and relatively movable includes a contact surface being able to contact the contact object via lubricant and a minute groove open at the contact surface and formed of a plurality of groove portions having a predetermined groove pitch. A ratio of a contact area of the contact surface to an area obtained by adding an opening area of the minute groove to the contact area of the contact surface is 90% to 96% in an initial state.

An annular wet clutch plate has lubrication grooves formed of multiple grooves in at least one of both axial end faces, the at least one of the both end faces having the lubrication grooves and a frictional engagement surface. The frictional engagement surface has a plurality of small grooves having a width and a depth that are smaller than those of the lubrication grooves. At least one of the small grooves is extended in a direction that crosses a circumferential direction of the annular clutch plate. A mean value of surface roughness of the frictional engagement surface having the small grooves is from 3.0 &#x3bc;m to 4.0 &#x3bc;m when the surface roughness is measured with the use of Rz at three positions that are offset from each other by 120&#xb0; in the circumferential direction around a central axis of the annular clutch plate.

Sliding member

A propeller shaft includes a first shaft and a second shaft. The first shaft has a torque transmission face in which a plurality of fine grooves extending in a first direction (face width direction) is formed. The second spline shaft is coupled to the first spline shaft so as to be movable relative to the first spline shaft in the axial direction of the first spline shaft, and has a torque transmission face in which a plurality of second fine grooves extending in a second direction that crosses the first direction is formed.

A plurality of microscopic grooves are created on the surface of the teeth of planetary gears, and thus, irregular unevenness is created. This irregular unevenness includes a plurality of first microscopic grooves which function as lubricant grooves and a plurality of second microscopic grooves which are shallower than the first microscopic grooves.

To control initial shudder in a wet paper friction plate, the frictional sliding surface of a wet paper friction member is preconditioned by frictional sliding contact with a mating plate until its bearing length ratio tp at a cutting depth of 10 &#x3bc;m is in the range from 70 to 85%. The preconditioning is optionally preceded by grinding, preferably before the wet paper friction member is attached to a base plate.

Wet friction plate

A spline shaft that can suppress occurrence of stick slip by measures other than just simply making the surface roughness smaller. The spline shaft includes a first shaft with an outer-peripheral spline formed, and a second shaft with an inner-peripheral spline, which engages with the outer-peripheral spline peripherally and that is made slidable axially, formed. And, at least either one of the outer-peripheral spline and the inner-peripheral spline includes a substrate whose surface is formed to a predetermined surface roughness, and an amorphous carbon-system hard thin film, which coats and forms the surface of substrate.

Spline shaft

A friction clutch includes an iron inner clutch plate and two iron outer clutch plates. Each clutch plate has a sliding surface that friction-engages with the other clutch plates. A diamond-like carbon film containing silicon, which functions as a solid lubricant, is formed on the sliding surface of each outer clutch plate through a conventional method such as plasma chemical vapor deposition. The diamond-like carbon film contains 1 wt % to 80 wt % of silicon. A coupling device includes a pilot clutch mechanism that has the friction clutch and an electromagnetic actuator. As a result, the friction clutch has an improved resistance to wear, and the coupling device is durable.

As a consequence, it can be realized to form amorphous carbon films efficiently at a low cost.

A drive force transmission device has an outer clutch plate and an inner clutch plate, which are rotatable relative to each other about a common rotational axis. The inner and outer clutch plates become frictionally engaged with each other with lubricant oil provided in between. The outer and inner clutch plates each have a sliding surface. The sliding surfaces face each other. A diamond-like carbon film is formed on the sliding surface of the outer clutch plate. Fine grooves are formed in the sliding surface of the inner clutch plate. The proportion of the sliding area to the sliding surface of the inner clutch plate at the initial stage of use is 55 to 90%.

A constant velocity universal joint includes an inner race having an outer peripheral face on which inner grooves are formed, an outer race having an inner peripheral face on which outer grooves are formed, a plurality of balls each engaging with each pair of inner groove and outer groove, and an annular cage disposed between the inner race and the outer race and including window portions for retaining respective balls. A coefficient of sliding friction between the ball and a rolling face on the inner groove with which the ball is in contact, and a coefficient of sliding friction between the ball and a rolling face on the outer groove with which the ball is in contact are larger than a coefficient of sliding friction between the ball and a sliding face on the window portion with which the ball is in contact.
