An image reading device includes a light source for illuminating an image in a developed photo film by applying illuminating light thereto. An area CCD reads the image by photoelectrically detecting the illuminating light reflected by, or transmitted through, the developed photo film, to obtain image data respectively of pixels. An input unit inputs information of a photo film type, printing size or printing magnification. A determiner determines whether the photo film type, printing size or printing magnification satisfies a predetermined data correcting condition related to image data correction. An image processor extracts a group of inappropriate pixels from the pixels by checking the image data if the photo film type, printing size or printing magnification satisfies the data correcting condition, and corrects the image data of the inappropriate pixel group.

Image reading device

An image reading apparatus in which, in a case in which one of a recorded position of a leading image frame of a film or recorded positions of images successive from the leading image frame of the film, among a plurality of image frames recorded on the film, cannot be specified, the film is conveyed to detect images until the image frame whose recorded position can be specified is arrived, the recorded position of the image frame whose recorded position cannot be specified, is specified on the basis of a recorded position of the image frame whose recorded position can be specified, and the film is conveyed in a predetermined direction such that the leading image frame is positioned at an optical axis of an image reading section, and image reading is carried out from the leading image frame, is provided.

Image reading apparatus and method

There is disclosed a film scanner for scanning picture frames on photographic film. A plurality of filmstrips are spliced into a long photographic film web () and wound around a reel when placed in a film supply device () of the film scanner. The photographic film web is advanced from the supply reel through a film passageway to a film wind-up device (). The film supply device and the film wind-up device are provided with loop formers () for forming loops () of the photographic film web before and behind a movable film table (). After a picture frame of the photographic film web is positioned and fixed in a light permeable window () of the film table, the film table is moved back and forth along the film passageway. In synchronism with the reciprocating movement of the film table, the film scanner sequentially makes pre-scanning, focusing and fine scanning.

Image scanner for photographic film

A system for managing information on a carrier, and an image reading apparatus, which enable easy resetting of correction data. When a film carrier is mounted in an image reading apparatus main body, a control section reads the identification number of the film carrier from an EEPROM, and determines whether the identification number corresponds to any of the identification numbers stored in a RAM. When correspondence is not found, it determines that the film carrier is mounted in the main body for the first time, and correction data is read from the EEPROM and stored in the RAM with the identification number. Instead of losing the correction data if the substrate is replaced, the correction data stored in the RAM is read from the control section and written into a new EEPROM, thereby enabling easy resetting of the correction data.

Carrier-related information management system and image reading apparatus

An image reading device is provided in which processing of magnetic information and image reading can be carried out efficiently, and parts can be arranged highly efficiently in terms of space. By conveying an APS film in a pull-out direction, magnetic information is read by a magnetic head, and an image frame is prescanned by a line CCD. Next, the APS film is conveyed in a take-up direction, and fine scanning is carried out by the line CCD and magnetic information is written by a magnetic head. In this way, because writing of magnetic information can be carried out during conveying for fine scanning, processing time can be shortened. Moreover, because a distance between the magnetic head and the line CCD is not restricted, the magnetic head and the line CCD can be disposed at positions which are efficient in terms of space.

In order to able to shorten the transporting time of the image information carrier as much as possible when the processing of magnetic information and the reading of an image are performed during the same transporting movement, an image reading device which transports an elongated image information carrier on which a plurality of image frames are recorded and which is provided with a magnetic recording layer on which is recorded magnetic information, and which reads image information of each image frame, comprising a linear scanner which performs a prescan for preliminarily reading image information of each image frame and which performs a fine scan for reading image information of each image frame under reading condition set on the basis of image information obtained in the prescan, a magnetic information reading and writing section which reads magnetic information on the magnetic recording layer during the prescan and writes magnetic information during the fine scan, and transporting section which transports the image information carrier during the prescan along a transporting path at a constant speed and which, for each image frame, transports the image information carrier during the fine scan along the transporting path at a speed set for each image frame in accordance with the reading condition and transports the image information carrier in a reverse direction of a transporting direction of the fine scan by a predetermined amount, wherein the writing of the magnetic information of each image frame is performed after the transporting speed of the image information carrier has converged to within a predetermined range with regard to the transporting speed for fine scanning set for each image frame, is provided.

A film carrier which convenes photographic photosensitive material on which an image is recorded, over a scanning section through which light from a light source passes. The film carrier includes a base placed above the scanning section, a platen movable over the base, a mask which is set on the platen, a pressure plate which together with the mask sandwiches the photographic photosensitive material, a moving device which moves the platen reciprocally over the base, and a conveying device provided at the mask for conveying the photographic photosensitive material.

Film carrier with film holding and conveying mechanisms

A carrier mounting structure which can smoothly mount a film carrier to a carrier stand and alleviate the effects on vibration isolating rubber. The carrier mounting structure, which includes an image reading device mounted to a main body of an image reading apparatus via vibration isolating rubber which alleviates the effects of vibration from the outside, and a carrier mounting portion which is formed at a reading position of the image reading device and to which a carrier having an image information carrying member loaded therein is mounted, includes: an upper surface of the main body of the image reading apparatus along which surface a bottom surface of the carrier is slid; a mounting surface of the carrier mounting portion, which is formed at a position higher than the upper surface of the main body of the image reading apparatus and to which the carrier is mounted; and an inclined surface formed at a corner portion of the carrier mounting portion and inclined toward the mounting surface of the carrier mounting portion from a position which is lower than the upper surface of the main body of the image reading apparatus.

Carrier mounting structure

During preliminary reading, a presser plate is positioned at a position separated from a photographic film. While the photographic film is conveyed by a film carrier, the photographic film is read by an exclusive-use line sensor, within an area sensor, which exclusive-use line sensor is positioned a predetermined distance away from a leading end detecting sensor. During main reading, image frames are read by the entire area sensor while the photographic film is conveyed intermittently in an opposite direction and is stopped.

Original reading device and method

A method of accommodating a roll of photographic film in a main body of a photographic-film cartridge in which the cartridge is in a state in which one end of an elongated leader member is brought into engagement with a spool in the cartridge and a predetermined length of the other end thereof extends out of the cartridge, includes a first step of inserting the leading end of a roll of photographic film into the main body of the cartridge, a second step of rotating the spool and feeding the roll of photographic film into the main body of the cartridge so as to wind the leader member and the leading end of the photographic film onto the spool, and a third step of rotating the spool so as to wind the rest of the roll of photographic film onto the spool, thereby accommodating the photographic film thus wound in the main body of the cartridge. A developed photographic film can be easily accommodated in the cartridge by making use of the frictional force produced by winding the leader member and the roll of photographic film together on the spool.

Method of accommodating photographic film with enlongated leader member

A method of accommodating a roll of photographic film in a main body of a photographic-film cartridge in which the cartridge is in a state in which one end of an elongated leader member is brought into engagement with a spool in the cartridge and a predetermined length of the other end thereof extends out of the cartridge includes a first step of inserting the leading end of a roll of photographic film into the main body of the cartridge, a second step of rotating the spool and feeding the roll of photographic film into the main body of the cartridge so as to wind the leader member and the leading end of the photographic film onto the spool, and a third step of rotating the spool so as to wind the rest of the roll of photographic film onto the spool, thereby accommodating the photographic film thus wound in the main body of the cartridge. Method of accommodating photographic film with elongated leader member

A photographic printing method and apparatus therefor having a pulse motor for transporting a photograhic film to place a picture frame in a printing position. In order to avoid an occurrence of cumulative position error, position data of each picture frame is provided in the form of a combination of the number of perforation holes and the number of driving pulses applied to the pulse motor while edges of each two adjacent perforation holes are detected. In a film inspection process, the position data is stored in a memory after having placing each picture frame in the printing position. The position data of each picture frame is read out in a printing process and compared with present position signals of the picture frame of the film being transported. Upon an occurrence of coincidence between the position data read out from the memory and the position data presently detected, the pulse motor is controlled to stop, thereby placing the picture frame in the same printing position as where the picture frame is placed in the inspection process.

Photographic printing method and apparatus therefor

A shutter driving apparatus for use in a photographic printer to drive a shutter for opening and closing the path of light which is incident on a photographic paper comprises a pulse motor for causing the shutter to pivot so as to open and close the light path, first and second stoppers which are arranged to come into contact with the pivoting shutter to thereby dispose it in a position for opening the light path and a position for closing the light path, respectively, a controller for suspending the operation of the pulse motor when the shutter which is being pivoted in the direction for closing the light path by means of the pulse motor reaches a position which is immediately in front of the light path closing position, and a spring for biasing the shutter toward the light path closing position with torque which is smaller than the starting torque and holding torque of the pulse motor and greater than the detent torque thereof. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the impact with which the shutter strikes against the first and second stoppers.

Shutter driving apparatus for photographic printer

A photographic printing apparatus for diffusing light emitted from a light source and irradiating a negative film with the light diffused has a body for accommodating a light source, a case which is attached to the accommodating body for swinging motion between an exposure-light guiding position and an out-of-optical-path position, and a diffuser box which is detachably attached to the case. With this arrangement, when a diffuser box is to be replaced in order to employ a negative film of different size, the diffuser box can be mounted without the need to detach the case.
