An optical device includes a first waveguide layer in which multiple-beam interference occurs, a second waveguide layer which includes a back surface facing the first waveguide layer and a front surface as a light output surface, and a diffraction grating which is arranged on a back side of the second waveguide layer and faces the first waveguide layer, wherein a grating constant of the diffraction grating is defined such that a first-order diffracted light emerges from the second waveguide layer, the first-order diffracted light being generated when a light component having a highest intensity of light which propagates in an in-plane direction while causing multiple reflection in the first waveguide layer enters the diffraction grating.

An optical device includes a first waveguide layer in which multiple-beam interference occurs, a second wavelength layer which includes a back surface facing the first waveguide layer and a front surface as a light output surface, and an outcoupling layer which is disposed on a back side of the second waveguide layer and faces the first wave guide layer, wherein the outcoupling layer includes a first portion as a layer with light transmission property and second portions which are dispersed in the first portion and differ in optical property from the first portion, and wherein an array of the second portions forms a triangular lattice.

A nanometer size roughened structure is formed on a surface of a light-emitting element, and luminous efficiency is improved. The roughened structure on the surface of the light-emitting element of the invention is formed into the following shape such that the refractive index smoothly changes: The surface of such light-emitting element is obtained by forming a thin film on the surface of the light-emitting element using a resin composition which contains a block copolymer or graft copolymer and forms a micophase-separated structure in a self-organization manner; selectively removing at least one phase of the microphase-separated structure of the thin film formed on the surface; and etching the surface of the light-emitting element using the remaining phase as an etching mask.

Light-emitting device and method for manufacturing the same

In a method for exposing a photosensitive resist layer with near-field light, a liquid film layer is provided between the photosensitive resist layer and a photomask. The photomask has a light-shielding film containing an opening portion through which a propagated light emitted from a light source cannot pass. The photosensitive resist layer is exposed with near-field light through the opening portion and the liquid film layer.

Method for exposing a photosensitive resist layer with near-field light

A nanometer size roughened structure is formed on a surface of a light-emitting element, and luminous efficiency is improved. The roughened structure is formed into the following shape to change refractive index smoothly: (1) the mean diameter of projections on the roughened surface is smaller than the light wavelength; (2) a pitch of the roughened surface is irregular; and (3) positions of the top and bottom of the roughened surface are distributed from their mean values within the light wavelength. The surface of such light-emitting element is obtained by forming a thin film on the surface of the light-emitting element using a block or graft copolymer comprising resin composition and forms a self-assembled microphase-separated structure; selectively removing at least one phase of the microphase-separated structure; and etching the surface of the light-emitting element using the remaining phase as an etching mask.
