A method of drawing and ironing a resin film laminated metal sheet for forming a can body having a bottom portion, a can wall portion and a flange-forming portion by drawing the resin film laminated metal sheet obtained by laminating at least one surface of a metal sheet with an organic resin film, followed by ironing by using a punch and a plurality of dies neighboring each other. The can wall is effectively prevented from being broken by a decrease in the thickness of the can wall, and drawn and ironed cans are efficiently formed having a thickness which is decreased as designed.

Method of drawing and ironing a resin film laminated metal sheet and resin film laminated drawn and ironed can using the same method

A method of drawn and ironed processing of a resin coated metal sheet, in which in the drawn and ironed processing of resin coated metal sheet, there can be obtained a can body of satisfactorily small wall thickness and at an opening edge part of the can body, the coating resin is free from any defect; and a resin coating drawn and ironed processed can produced thereby. There is provided a method of drawn and ironed processing of a resin coated metal sheet, comprising performing drawn and ironed processing of a resin coated metal sheet composed of a metal sheet having at least one major surface thereof coated with an organic resin with the use of a punch and a die into a can body, characterized in that ironing is conducted with the use of a punch having a small-diameter portion at its rear end so that the ratio of ironing at an opening edge part of the can body after shaping falls within the range of 0 to 15%. Further, there is provided a drawn and ironed processed can of resin coated metal sheet produced through the processing method.

A steel sheet of which both sides are laminated with a resin film wherefrom a two-piece can having a can height about twice the length of the can diameter and a thin wall thickness from 40 to 70% of the original sheet thickness can be formed under a special wall thickness reduction process without water based coolant or lubricant.

Resin film laminated steel sheet for can by dry forming

A laminated steel sheet for dry forming drawn and ironed cans wherein the steel sheet comprises a steel containing iron, carbon, manganese, aluminum, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur and optionally titanium and/or niobium and wherein the steel sheet is electrolytically chromium-coated and covered on both sides with a 10-50 .mu.m thick thermoplastic resin layer. The sheet sheet has a crystal grain size of 8-30 .mu.m, a surface roughness of 0.05-0.6 .mu.m and a thickness of 0.15-0.3 mm.

Resin film laminated steel for can by dry forming

A method for making a tin-coated steel sheet useful in manufacture of drawn and ironed cans eliminates the annealing step used in other manufacturing processes. The steel sheet comprises a steel slab having specified trace amounts of carbon, silicon, manganese, sulphur, aluminum, nitrogen and phosphorus, and has excellent formability and corrosion resistance.

A steel foil for drawing a container with an organic film coat which is characterized of superior drawability, which includes 0.06% and under carbon, 0.1 to 0.5% manganese, 0.01 to 0.10% aluminum and the balance of iron and inevitable impurities, and the foil having a crystal grain size which is 7.5 to 10 in grain size number (JIS G 0552) and the foil having a ratio of peak values of P(222) to P(200) in intensity of X-ray diffraction in a plane parallel to a sheet surface, i.e. a P(222)/P(200) ratio, which is larger than 0.6 and which has a yield strength of 20 to 45 kg/mm.sup.2 and a thickness of 50 to 100 .mu.m.

Steel foil for drawing container with organic film coat

A drawing punch for use in drawing foils in a die which converges in the direction of drawing. The punch has a rigid core, a cylindrical elastic body on the core and surrounding the core with a cavity therein around the core and opening out of the end of the body facing the direction of drawing. A rigid support member is provided on the core against which the other end of the body is supported. The radial cross-sectional area of the cylindrical elastic body increases from the firstmentioned end of the body toward the other end, and the peripheral surface of the cylindrical elastic body is at a positive angle to the axis of the punch of from 0.degree. to 20.degree.. The cavity has a volume which becomes zero just before the end of the stroke of the punch into the die.
