A light source device according to the present disclosure includes a light emitting element for emitting first light, a wavelength conversion member for converting the first light into second light, and a support member. The wavelength conversion member has a first face and a second face crossing a longitudinal direction of the wavelength conversion member, a third face and a fourth face crossing the first face and the second face, and a fifth face and a sixth face crossing the first face and the second face and crossing the third face and the fourth face, and the second light is emitted from the first face. A light emitting surface of the light emitting element is opposed to the third face.

A light source apparatus includes a first light source that emits first light belonging to a first wavelength band, a second light source that emits second light belonging to a second wavelength band, a wavelength converter that contains a phosphor and converts the first light into third light belonging to a third wavelength band different from the first, a first heat dissipation member that includes a plurality of first fins and dissipates heat generated by the first light source, a second heat dissipation member that includes a plurality of second fins and dissipates heat generated by the second light source, and a first direction wherein first channels, specified by the gaps between the first fins and along which a refrigerant is supplied, extend coincides with a second direction wherein second channels, specified by the gaps between the second fins and along which the refrigerant is supplied, extend.

Light source apparatus and projector

A projector includes an image light generator configured to modulate light emitted from a light source to generate image light, a projection optical device configured to project the image light, a polarization switching element disposed at a light exit side of the image light generator and configured to switch a polarization state of the image light emitted from the image light generator, and a controller configured to control the polarization switching element. The controller controls the polarization switching element to switch the polarization state of the image light with a predetermined period.

Projector

A light source device according to the present disclosure includes a first light source, a second light source, a wavelength conversion section, a polarization splitting/combining element, a dichroic mirror for reflecting second light and transmitting third light emitted from the wavelength conversion section, a retardation plate, a diffusion section, and a condensing optical section. Condensing optical section has a first end part, a second end part, and a reflecting part. Second light proceeding via the polarization splitting/combining element is transmitted through the condensing optical section from the second end part toward the first end part, and then enters the dichroic mirror. Second light reflected by the dichroic mirror passes through the condensing optical section and then enters the polarization splitting/combining element. Third light passes through the condensing optical section and then enters the polarization splitting/combining element. Polarization splitting/combining element combines the second light and the third light with each other.

A light source device includes a light source that emits first and second excitation lights, a first wavelength conversion section including a first phosphor, and configured to convert the first excitation light into first fluorescence having a first wavelength band, a second wavelength conversion section including a second phosphor, and configured to convert the second excitation light into second fluorescence having a second wavelength band, and a light combining section that combines the first fluorescence and the second fluorescence. A first side surface of the first wavelength conversion section and a second side surface of the second wavelength conversion section are opposed to each other, the first fluorescence is emitted from a first end surface of the first wavelength conversion section toward the light combining section, and the second fluorescence is emitted from a first end surface of the second wavelength conversion section toward the light combining section.

A light source apparatus includes a light source section emitting first light having a first wavelength band, a light guide propagating part of the first light, a wavelength converter disposed side by side with the light guide and including a phosphor emitting second light having a second wavelength band when excited by another part of the first light, and a light combiner that combines the first light exiting the light guide with the second light exiting the wavelength converter. The light source section faces the light guide and the wavelength converter.

Light source apparatus having side by side light guide and wavelength converter

A light source device includes a wavelength conversion member including a phosphor, and for converting excitation light into first light, a first light source section for emitting the excitation light, a second light source section for emitting second light, and a color combining element for generating composite light. The wavelength conversion member has first and second end surfaces, and a side surface. The excitation light enters the wavelength conversion member from the side surface, and the first light is emitted from the first end surface. The color combining element has first and second surfaces parallel to each other, and a third surface. The first light emitted from the wavelength conversion member enters the color combining element from the first surface, the second light emitted from the second light source section enters the color combining element from the third surface, and the composite light is emitted from the second surface.

A light source apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a light source section that emits first light and excitation light having a first wavelength band, a light guide that causes the first light emitted from the light source section to propagate, a wavelength converter including a phosphor that emits second light having a wavelength band different from the wavelength band of the excitation light when the wavelength converter is excited with the excitation light emitted from the light source section, and a light combiner that combines the first light having exited out of the light guide with the second light having exited out of the wavelength converter. The light guide and the wavelength converter are disposed side by side, and a light transmissive member that transmits the first light is provided between the light source section and the light guide.

A light source apparatus according to an aspect includes a light source that outputs first light and second light, wavelength converter that contains phosphor and converts first light into fluorescence, and a light combiner that combines second light with fluorescence and outputs the resultant combined light. Wavelength converter has a first end surface and a second end surface and a side surface. Light combiner has a first surface and a second surface and a third surface. First end surface of the wavelength converter faces the first surface of the light combiner. First light enters the wavelength converter via the side surface, and the fluorescence exits out of the wavelength converter via the first end surface. Fluorescence enters the light combiner via the first surface, the second light enters the light combiner via the third surface, and the combined light exits out of the light combiner via the second surface.

A light source apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a light source, a first wavelength converter that converts first excitation light into first fluorescence, a second wavelength converter that converts second excitation light into second fluorescence, a third wavelength converter that converts third excitation light into third fluorescence, a light combiner that combines the first fluorescence, the second fluorescence, and the third fluorescence with one another, and a light source driver that causes the light source to output the first excitation light, the second excitation light, and the third excitation light in a time sequential manner. The first, second, and third wavelength converters are disposed in parallel to one another. The excitation light enters the wavelength converters via side surfaces, and the fluorescence exits via end surfaces of the wavelength converters.

A discharge lamp drive device includes a discharge lamp driver adapted to supply a drive current to a discharge lamp having a first electrode and a second electrode, a control section adapted to control the discharge lamp driver, and a storage section adapted to store a plurality of drive patterns of the drive current. Each of the plurality of drive patterns has a plurality of drive parameters. The control section executes at least three of the drive patterns in a case in which drive power to be supplied to the discharge lamp is in a predetermined power band, and in a case in which an inter-electrode voltage of the discharge lamp is a predetermined voltage value. Any two of the at least three drive patterns are different from each other in a value of at least one of the plurality of drive parameters.

Discharge lamp drive device, light source device, projector, and discharge lamp drive method

A light source apparatus according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a first light source that emits first light, a second light source that emits second light, a light guide that causes the first light emitted from the first light source to propagate, a wavelength converter containing a phosphor that emits fluorescence when excited with the second light emitted from the second light source, and a light combiner that combines the first light having exited out of the light guide with the fluorescence having exited out of the wavelength converter. The light guide and the wavelength converter are disposed side by side. The light guide has a first end section and a second end section. The wavelength converter has a third end section and a fourth end section. The first light enters the light guide via the first end section thereof.

A light source apparatus includes a light source that outputs excitation light, a first wavelength converter containing a first phosphor and converts excitation light into first fluorescence having a first wavelength band, a second wavelength converter containing a second phosphor and converts excitation light into second fluorescence having a second wavelength band, a reflector reflecting second fluorescence guided in second wavelength converter, and a light guide guiding second fluorescence having exited out of second wavelength converter to first wavelength converter. A discharge lamp drive device includes a discharge lamp driver adapted to supply a drive current to a discharge lamp having a first electrode and a second electrode, a control section adapted to control the discharge lamp driver, and a storage section adapted to store a plurality of drive patterns of the drive current. The control section is adapted to select one drive pattern of the plurality of drive patterns based on machine learning, and execute the selected drive pattern.

A light source device according to the present disclosure includes a light source configured to emit excitation light, a first rod part including a phosphor and configured to emit fluorescence in response to incidence of the excitation light, a second rod part located in parallel to the first rod part, including a phosphor, and configured to emit fluorescence in response to incidence of the excitation light, a first reflecting film disposed so as to be opposed to a tilted surface formed in an end part of the first rod part, and a second reflecting film disposed so as to be opposed to a tilted surface formed in an end part of the second rod part.
