An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive belt carried by a driver device, for forming a toner image thereon; an internal transcription belt for transcribing the toner image; and a transcription portion for transcribing the toner image, which is transcribed on the internal transcription belt, onto a recording medium. A transcription side roller is suspended with the internal transcription belt thereon, and disposed on a side of a photosensitive belt side roller. Detectors detect a first cycle of the internal transcription belt, and a second cycle, which starts measurement delaying by &#xbd; cycle of the photosensitive belt side roller from the first cycle measurement start. A controller conducts speed compensation of the photosensitive belt by referring to the first cycle and the second cycle, wherein the internal transcription belt is in contact with the photosensitive belt, so that it is carried following thereafter.

An image forming apparatus including an image forming device on which toner images are formed; a transfer device for transferring the toner images onto a record medium; a voltage-application unit for applying a transfer voltage to the transfer device; a current-detection unit for detecting current flowing between the image forming device and the transfer device; a storage unit for storing a first current value detected at a non-operation position of the transfer device, and a second current value detected at an operation position of the transfer device; and a transfer device state-determination unit for determining the presence of the transfer device and the occurrence of an anomaly in a contact operation of the transfer device with the image forming device and a shunt operation in which the transfer device is moved away from the image forming device.

A power source system failing to become operable when only a primary A.C. power source is turned on, and made operable by turning on not only the primary A.C. power source but also a secondary power source is disclosed, in which initial-state-of-secondary-source setting means is previously set so that the initial state of the secondary power source at a time when the primary A.C. power source is turned on, is a desired one of an ON-state and an OFF-state, a system control part reads out the state of the initial-state-of-secondary-source setting means immediately after the primary A.C. power source has been turned on, and an ON-OFF control is performed for an ON/OFF switching circuit in accordance with the read-out state, to make the initial state of the secondary power source equal to the desired state. Thus, in a case where a controlled apparatus is required to become operable as soon as the primary A.C. power source is turned on, the initial-state-of-secondary-source setting means is set so that the initial state of the ON/OFF switching circuit is an ON-state, to make the controlled apparatus usable immediately without operating any operation switch, thereby improving the usability of the controlled apparatus.

Power source system

A thermal ink-transfer printer is disclosed in which an ink donor sheet is wound on a supply reel. The ink donor sheet is drawn out from the supply reel and passes between a rotating drum and a thermal head and is then rolled round a winding reel. Printing paper is moved in a printing-paper transporting path formed between the rotating drum and guide means. The thermal head presses the ink donor sheet against the printing paper and heats the ink donor sheet to transfer the ink on the ink donor sheet to the printing paper. The ink donor sheet after completing the ink transfer is separated from the printing paper and rolled round the winding reel. The printing paper separated from the ink donor sheet is moved in the printing-paper transporting path. When the ink donor sheet during separation from the printing paper is erroneously drawn into a predetermined portion of the printing-paper transporting path, this erroneous operation of the ink donor sheet is detected by jam detecting means.
