An air conditioning system () has: a heat pump unit () that heats a room with a vapor compression refrigerant circuit (); a separate heat source unit () that heats a room with a heat source separate from the heat pump unit (); and a control unit () that controls an operation of the heat pump unit () and the separate heat source unit (). As a refrigerant, a flammable refrigerant is sealed in the refrigerant circuit (). When the flammable refrigerant is leaking, the control unit () heats the room with the separate heat source unit () in both cases where a heat pump heating condition is satisfied and where a separate heat source heating condition is satisfied.

A refrigerant flow path switching device includes: a first header pipe that is connected to a high-and-low-pressure gas connection pipe of a heat source unit in an air conditioner; a second header pipe that is connected to a sucked-gas connection pipe of the heat source unit; a third header pipe that is connected to a liquid connection pipe of the heat source unit; switching units that each correspond respectively to utilization units in the air conditioner and include valves that control refrigerant flows; and a casing accommodating the first header pipe, the second header pipe, the third header pipe, and switching units. The refrigerant flow path switching device switches among refrigerant flow paths, each of which is between the heat source unit and one of the utilization units.

An HVAC system is provided. Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to heat exchangers having tubing with a reduced diameter compared to traditional systems. In one embodiment, a ducted HVAC system comprises an outdoor heat exchanger with tubing that has an outer diameter of eight millimeters (8 mm) or less and an indoor heat exchanger with tubing that has an outer diameter of nine millimeters (9 mm) or less. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

An air conditioner includes: a casing; a partition plate in the casing that separates a heat-source-side space of the casing through which outdoor air passes and a utilization-side space of the casing through which indoor air passes and blocks air flow between the heat-source-side space and the utilization-side space; a heat-source-side heat exchanger in the heat-source-side space that causes heat exchange between a refrigerant and the outdoor air; a utilization-side heat exchanger in the utilization-side space that causes heat exchange between the indoor air and the heat-exchanged refrigerant; a duct that extends from the utilization-side space to an indoor air conditioning target space; and a refrigerant leakage sensor in the utilization-side space that detects leaked refrigerant in the utilization-side space.

Air conditioner

A refrigerant flow path switching unit, disposed between a heat source unit and a utilization unit and that switches a refrigerant flow in the utilization unit, includes: a flow path switching valve; a case that houses the flow path switching valve; and an electric component box that houses an electric component that controls the flow path switching valve. At least two surfaces of the case include a box attachment part that is configured to attach the electric component box to the case.

Refrigerant flow path switching unit and air conditioner including the same

An air conditioning system has: an indoor fan that sends air into a room through an air-blowing flow path; a heat pump unit that air-conditions the room with a vapor compression refrigerant circuit; and a separate heat source unit that air-conditions the room with a furnace that heats air by burning fuel or an electric heater that heats air with heat generated by energization. As a refrigerant, a flammable refrigerant is sealed in the refrigerant circuit. A controller controls an operation of the indoor fan, the heat pump unit, and the separate heat source unit. When starting air conditioning in the room with the separate heat source unit, the controller brings a state where the indoor fan is in operation before causing an operation for burning fuel in the furnace.

An HVAC system is provided. Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to an HVAC system in which multiple indoor units are coupled to central outdoor unit, where at least one of the indoor units is configured to provide conditioned air through ductwork and at least one indoor unit is configured to provide conditioned air without ductwork. Moreover, a gas furnace can be provided in the system, for harsher environments that benefit from more robust heating. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

In an air conditioner, a control section controls at least the indoor expansion valve. The indoor expansion valve has a degree of opening that is controllable. The control section has a condensate formation suppressing control mode and a normal heating control mode. The condensate formation suppressing control mode is performed in a case where a predetermined condensate formation condition is satisfied. The predetermined condensate formation condition relates to generation of condensate formation on the connecting section. The normal heating control mode is performed in cases other than the case where the predetermined condensate formation condition is satisfied. The control section increases the opening degree of the indoor expansion valve when the condensate formation suppressing control mode is performed compared to a case when the normal heating control mode is performed.

An indoor unit of an air conditioner indicates cooling or heating operation states not obtained from an outdoor unit of the air conditioner. The indoor unit includes an indoor control section having first and second control modes. The second control mode is performed in a case when information ascertained by a second information ascertaining section satisfies a predetermined condition. In the first control mode, the opening degree of the indoor expansion valve is controlled so that the degree of superheat satisfies a predetermined superheat condition. In the second control mode, the opening degree of the indoor expansion valve is controlled such that the opening degree is larger than in the first control mode, or the opening degree of the indoor expansion valve is controlled using a modified first control mode by setting a lower limit opening degree narrowing an adjustable range of the opening degree in the first control mode.
