A mixing apparatus includes: a mixing container with a discharge port for discharging mixed liquid; a filter paper covering the discharge port to temporarily retain the liquid; a receiving unit with a waste liquid collecting portion for receiving a first liquid discharged from the discharge port through the filter paper, and a measuring portion for receiving a second liquid subjected to treatment different from treatment for the first liquid; and an operation portion for enabling selection between a first receiving state in which the waste liquid collecting portion receives the first liquid and a second receiving state in which the measuring portion receives the second liquid, and also for controlling the movement of the first liquid or the second liquid.

A laser light source has a plurality of semiconductor lasers arranged in a direction intersecting a primary scanning direction X. The inventive image recording apparatus records unit images with different combinations of light beams among a plurality of light beams emissive from a recording head when preparing the respective ones of C, M, Y and K plates. Also when the plurality of light beams are dispersed in quantity of light, therefore, density distributions of different tendencies result in the unit images recorded on the respective ones of the C, M, Y and K plates. In a resultant image formed by superposing the unit images with each other, therefore, fluctuation of densities can be canceled and reduced.

Image recording apparatus and image recording method

Optical fibers constituting optical fiber rows are positioned as pinched between base plates defining numerous positioning V-grooves. In each optical fiber row, the optical fibers are arranged at a fixed pitch P. The optical fibers have projections thereof arranged at a fixed pitch PX in a secondary scanning direction, and at a fixed pitch PY in a primary scanning direction. The positions of the projections of the optical fibers constituting the optical fiber rows are partly coinciding in the secondary scanning direction.

The light emitted from a point light source is converged by a relay lens to form an intermediate image which is an enlarged image of the light source. The light source and the relay lens are accommodated in the same lens-barrel, and are thereby united as a light source unit. When a problem occurs in the light source, the light source is not independently replaced, but the light source unit is replaced as a unit. That is to say, the intermediate image formed by the light source unit is used as an apparent new light source (referred to as a 'pseudo light source'). The emitted luminous flux from this pseudo light source is made parallel by a collimator lens and then is linearly focused into an image on a reflection plane of a deflector by a first cylindrical lens. First cylindrical lens 6 has its focal point in a plane including the rotation axis of the deflector and a slit. The light deflected by the deflector is focused into an image with a prescribed beam diameter on a photosensitive material by a second image forming optical system formed of an f.theta. lens and a curved second cylindrical lens.

Optical device using a point light source

An optical beam scanning system is constructed with less optical elements. A light beam (B.sub.1) of parallel rays passes through a first image-forming system (L.sub.1). The first image-forming system consists of a cylindrical lens (2) having a refracting power in a direction equivalent to a main scanning direction (X) and a spherical convex lens (3). Focuses of the cylindrical lens and the spherical convex lens are within a prescribed allowance. A light beam (B.sub.11) passing through the spherical lens has a character of parallel rays within a vertical plane and a character of convergent rays within a horizontal plane to be focused on a deflection surface (4a). A reflected light beam (B.sub.2) is finally focused on a surface-to-be-scanned (8) through a second image-forming system (L.sub.2).

Optical beam scanning system

A clock generator (15) and a delay circuit (16) create N dot recording clock signals (.phi..sub.1 to .phi..sub.N) of a cycle t, delayed by t/N. A counter (20) counts a detecting time interval between a start sensor (12) and an end sensor (14) for every surface of a polygon mirror (8) to generate time resolution t/N. The difference between the count value and a reference count value set in a latch (24) is input to a subtracter (23), so that a translation table (28) outputs clock crossover timing responsive to the difference. A latch (17) and an encoder (18) select an N dot recording clock signal synchronous with detection output of the start sensor (12) for every surface of the polygon mirror (8). A second selector (33) outputs a crossover dot recording clock signal (.phi..sub.X) for image recording by performing crossover from the selected dot recording clock signal to other dot recording clock signals that are sequentially along the clock crossover timing.
