A sample processing system is configured for analyzing, preprocessing, or carrying out other operations for a biological sample such as blood or urea. With the sample processing system, it is possible to store samples to be stored in a thermally insulated state or specimens required for accuracy control in the thermally insulated state for preventing evaporation or denaturing of the samples and specimens. Also it is possible to carry in or out the samples, rack by rack, according to necessity. Further, the sample processing system is provided with a buffer unit in a cold container having a capability for cold storage and also by accessing a sample rack at random for carrying in or out a rack with a transfer mechanism provided outside of the cold container.

Sample handling system

A method of evaporation control of a sample which is stored in a thermally insulated state is configured for preventing evaporation or denaturing of the samples and specimens. The method includes carrying the samples contained in individual containers out from a cold container having a capability of cold storage. An elapsed time that each sample container has been removed from the cold container is measured and is compared with a preset time. If the elapsed time is less than the preset time, the sample container can be returned to the cold container. An alarm is output if the elapsed time exceeds the preset time.

Method of evaporation control of a sample stored in a cold container

Dispensing nozzle tip

A sample dispensing apparatus and method for dispensing a sample such as blood and urine collected for inspection from one vessel to another are provided wherein the remaining quantity of a primary sample can be reduced without disturbing the primary sample. When clogging by a separating agent is detected during suction of a sample such as blood and urine collected for inspection, the sample dispensing apparatus performs raising of an aliquot head such that an opening at the free end of a nozzle tip does not come out of the sample liquid surface to dissolve clogging; sucking of the sample under the residual pressure; and additionally sucking of a fixed quantity of the sample to reduce the remaining quantity of the sample.

Sample dispensing apparatus and method

A sample dispensing apparatus dispenses a sample from a container accommodating a sample such as blood or urea sampled for checking. This sample dispensing apparatus can prevent internal contamination of the apparatus due to dripping of the sample and abnormal sucking operations caused by drainage, condensation and fixing of the sample. The sample dispensing apparatus according to the present invention comprises a dispensing device for dispensing a sucked sample, a dispensing head provided in the dispensing device, and a disposable nozzle chip dismountably set on the dispensing head. In this apparatus, dispensing of a sample to child sample containers is performed exchanging the child sample containers with new ones. When the state, in which dispensing to the child container cannot be carried out, is continued for a prespecified period of time, the nozzle chip is automatically released from the dispensing head.

Sample dispensing apparatus

An automatic code recognizing apparatus includes an arithmetic operation unit for calculating the distance from a barcode scanner to the upper surface center of an article to be detected and the distances from barcode scanners to the side surface centers of the article to be detected based on detection signals from a height sensor and a TV camera. A mirror is controlled to focus the focal positions of the barcode scanners on the upper surface center and side surface centers of the article based on the result of calculation of the arithmetic operation unit. With this arrangement, there can be provided the automatic barcode recognizing apparatus capable of recognizing a barcode with a pinpoint accuracy and excellent responsiveness.

When sheets are taken into a machine or discharged from the machine, characteristics of these sheets such as letters or symbols of these sheets are read by a sheet characteristics reading unit. A result of reading the characteristics is stored in a storage unit. When characteristics of a sheet are not able to be read at the time of accommodating sheets, this sheet is returned and only sheets of which characteristics have been able to be read are taken into the machine. Sheets of which characteristics are not able to be read at the time of discharging sheets are specified by a unit for specifying sheets of which characteristics can not be read. By this arrangement, each sheet in the machine is always managed.

A magnetic detector for detecting a magnetism present in the vicinity of or close to a magnetic wire circumferentially magnetized therein and an electromagnet for generating an A.C. magnetic field on the basis of the magnitude of a Matteucci-effect voltage developed across the magnetic wire when the electromagnet approaches the magnetic wire. A coordinate input device for detecting proximity between the electromagnet and an array of a plurality of such magnetic wires arranged in X and Y directions when the electromagnet approaches the array. A magnetic image sensor for detecting an intensity distribution of a static magnetic field to be detected and present along a longitudinal direction of the wire on the basis of a detection voltage of the wire when a plurality of such electromagnets arranged along the longitudinal direction of the wire are sequentially excited one after another.

An automatic cash handling system for handling cash transactions with the user using a cash card privately held by him or her. The system comprises a device for issuing a record such as a transaction statement printed with details of a transaction such as deposit, withdrawal or confirmation of balance, and a device for allowing the user to opt for or relinquish the issuance of a record. In operating the system, the user decides whether a record is to be issued or not, and if he requires one, a record issuing devices issues a record printed with transaction data. If he demands no issuance of a record, on the other hand, the transaction data is indicated on an indication device.

Automatic cash handling system offering optional printed record

A user or a customer manipulates a banking machine to withdraw the cash or to deposit the cash. The user or the customer manipulates the input device of a transaction equipment and inserts a transaction medium such as cash card in the transaction equipment. The transaction equipment then operates to pick up the image data for confirming the user himself, the image data of the transaction medium, and the transaction data as electronic image data which will then be recorded onto a recording medium such as a video tape or an optical disc.

Apparatus for recording transactions and a recording method therefor

A spread-spectrum communication system includes a transmitter for transmitting a spectrum-spread signal and a receiver for receiving the data signal. To establish synchronism between the signals transmitted and received, the receiver includes a first loop circuit for establishing synchronism in frequency and phase of a carrier for the spectrum-spread data signal, and a second loop circuit for detecting the synchronism of spectrum spreading code signal of a spectrum spread data signal after the carrier has been removed by said first loop circuit.

A method of controlling the operation of multistage centrifugal compressor equipment provided with inlet guide vanes and diffuser vanes at each stage to enable operation to be practiced at a low energy consumption level. The method includes the steps of determining whether the prevailing flow rate, for example, is in a range of flow rates near the desired flow rate or in a range of flow rates remote therefrom; and controlling a combination of the amount of operation of the guide vanes with the amount of operation of the diffuser vanes, which is set beforehand, when the prevailing flow rate is determined to be in the latter range to promptly bring the prevailing flow rate to the desired flow rate level, and effecting fine adjustments of the inlet guide vanes and diffuser vanes to control the angles thereof when the prevailing flow rate is determined to be in the former range, thereby enabling increased efficiency to be achieved in the operation of the compressor equipment.
