A trigger switch has a case member, a cover member, and an operation member configured to be used to carry out an operation. The case member and the cover member are combined with each other to form a waterproof case. When the operation member is operated, the operation member is displaced inward of the waterproof case. An internal pressure of the waterproof case changes in accordance with displacement of the operation member. The case member has a case base that is made from an inelastic body. The case base does not deform in accordance with a change in internal pressure of the waterproof case. The case base has at least one hole part. The case member has at least one deformation section that seals the at least one hole part. The deformation section is made from an elastic body.

An electric power tool of an embodiment of the present invention uses a motor provided with a yoke as a drive source, and is configured such that an end portion of an electric component mounted on a drive circuit of the motor is electrically connected to the yoke of the motor through a conductive elastic body.

The variable speed switch according to the present invention is capable of outputting an electric signal for increasing or decreasing an amount of electric power supplied to the motor of an electric power tool according to a displacement amount of a switch-operating portion. The variable speed switch includes a wake-up contact configured to work when the switch-operating portion is operated and by which a voltage can be applied to a control circuit part of the motor to make the control circuit part in an operable state, and also includes a load sensor configured to receive a pressing force from the switch-operating portion by the displacement amount of the switch-operating portion after the operation of the wake-up contact is made and to output an electric signal according to the pressing force.

Variable speed switch

A trigger switch includes a case having a switching mechanism inside thereof and open on one side, a cover configured to be fitted inside an opening of the case to close the opening, and a trigger arranged outside of the case and configured to operate the switching mechanism by sliding operation via the plunger. An engaging depression is formed on an inner wall surface defining an opening edge portion of the case. A shoulder is formed on an outer peripheral end edge portion of the cover. An engaging projection is formed to project outward from a side surface of the shoulder to a small extent so as to be capable of engaging with the engaging depression corresponding thereto. A joint groove is formed by the inner wall surface of the opening edge portion of the case and the shoulder, and the joint groove is filled with an adhesive agent.

A switch device for a power tool includes a switch case and a switch lever. The switch lever extends outwardly from within the switch case. The switch lever has a rotative portion rotatably supported by a support portion of the switch case. A waterproofing member is disposed between the rotative portion and the support portion and provides a waterproof seal therebetween.

A switch for controlling a rotational speed of a motor includes an operation member, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The first circuit includes a brush coupled to the operation member having a contact and also includes a variable resistive plate having a resistance that changes in response to a contact position of the contact point of the brush, so that the first circuit outputs a control signal to the motor according to the contact position of the contact point. The second circuit connects the brush and the resistive plate without through the contact point when the brush is positioned at a given position relative to the resistive plate.

In a power tool, a housing is composed of two divisional housings to be combined together; two receptacle blocks are provided on inner surfaces of the two divisional housings, respectively, and configured to protrude opposite to each other from the inner surfaces of the two divisional housings to surround an electric component and to hold the electric component in place when the two divisional housings are combined together into the housing; and a seal layer of an elastic material is formed integrally with one or each of the two receptacle blocks. The seal layer formed on a first receptacle block is pressed against a second receptacle block or another seal layer formed on the second receptacle block to provide sealing between opposed surfaces of the two receptacle blocks when the two divisional housings are combined together.

Power tool

A switch device includes a switch body and an operation member. The switch body includes a case and a rotary shaft rotatably supported by the case and extending from one end of the case in an axial direction. The operation member is joined to the rotary shaft. The case has a cylindrical outer surface and the operation member has a cylindrical inner surface disposed coaxial with the cylindrical outer surface of the case. A support member is disposed at one of the cylindrical outer surface of the case and the cylindrical inner surface of the operation member and has an edge portion extending linearly along a circumferential direction of the one of the cylindrical outer surface and the cylindrical inner surface, so that the edge portion can slidably contact the other of the cylindrical outer surface of the case and the cylindrical inner surface of the operation member.

One aspect according to the present invention includes a switch device for a power tool. The switch device includes a switch lever operable to move between an ON position for activating the power tool and an OFF position for stopping activation of the power tool. An on-lock mechanism can lock the switch lever in the ON position. An off-lock mechanism can lock the switch lever in the OFF position. The operation for making the on-lock mechanism effective and the operation for releasing the off-lock mechanism are performed by operating an operation member in different directions from each other or by operating two separate operation members.

In a trigger switch having a normal and reverse switching lever configured to switch the direction of rotation of a motor, a case is formed with a speed control unit storage chamber for storing a speed control unit, a revolving shaft storage chamber for storing a revolving shaft of the switching lever and a contact strip member storage chamber with continuing from the revolving shaft storage chamber through a shielding member therebetween for storing contact strip member of the switching lever, the revolving shaft storage chamber is formed with a revolving shaft engaging hole configured to allow the revolving shaft to be inserted in an engaged state on an upper portion thereof on the side of the trigger lever, and a waterproof device for covering at least a gap between the switching lever and the revolving shaft engaging hole is provided to prevent entry of water therein.
