The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for efficiently producing an olefin (co)polymer containing a constituent unit derived from 1-butene, the (co)polymer having a molecular weight that is sufficiently high even for high temperature conditions that are beneficial for industrial production methods. This purpose can be achieved by means of a method for producing an olefin (co)polymer containing a constituent unit derived from 1-butene, wherein at least 1-butene and, if necessary, an &#x3b1;-olefin having 2 or more carbon atoms (excluding 1-butene) and other monomers are (co)polymerized in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst that contains (A) a crosslinked metallocene compound represented by general formula [I] and (B) at least one type of compound selected from among (b-1) an organic aluminum oxy compound, (b-2) a compound that forms an ion pair upon a reaction with the crosslinked metallocene compound (A), and (b-3) an organic aluminum compound, at a polymerization temperature of 55-200&#xb0; C. and a polymerization pressure of 0.1-5.0 MPaG.

Olefin polymer with narrow molecular weight distribution and specific molecular weight, olefin polymer having functional group introduced at terminal, tapered polymer containing segment wherein monomer composition continuously changes in the polymer chain, olefin polymer having different segments bonded to each other, and process for preparing these polymers. The olefin polymers are polymers of Ccarbon atom olefins and have a number-average molecular weight of &#x2267;500 and Mw/Mn of &#x2266;1.5. In syntheses, an olefin of 2-20 carbon atoms is polymerized in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound represented by the formula LMXwherein M is a transition metal atom of Group 3-11, m is 1-5, n is a number satisfying a valence of M, L is a ligand&#x2014;coordinated to the central metal M&#x2014;which contains a heteroatom having no direct bond to the central metal, and X is e.g. halogen or a hydrocarbon.

Provided is a process which can be carried out upon the production of a polyurethane/thiourethane-based resin with the use of a polyisocyanate compound, a polyol compound, and a polythiol compound, without causing abrupt heat generation or viscosity increase. Copolymer, production process thereof, lubricating oil viscosity modifier, and lubricating oil composition

The olefin polymers of the invention are polymers of olefins of 2 to 20 carbon atoms and have a number-average molecular weight of not less than 500 and Mw/Mn of not more than 1.5. In the process for preparing an olefin polymer, an olefin of 2 to 20 carbon atoms is polymerized in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a transition metal compound represented by, for example, the following formula (I):LMX&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)wherein M is a transition metal atom of Group 3 to Group 11 of the periodic table, m is 1 to 5, n is a number satisfying a valence of M, L is a ligand coordinated to the central metal M and is a ligand containing a heteroatom having no direct bond to the central metal, and X is a halogen atom, a hydrocarbon group or the like.
