A card connector includes a housing having a receptacle to receive therein a card in an insertion direction and the card has a terminal member. A connection terminal is secured to the housing and is configured to contact the terminal member of the card. A card ejecting action detecting switch is configured to detect when the card is ejected from the housing. A card guide mechanism is provided with an urging member for urging the card in a direction opposite the insertion direction. The card guide mechanism is configured to hold the card at a locked position to ensure that the terminal member of the card is in contact with the connection terminal and to permit movement of the card in the opposite direction by a pushing force exerted on the card in the insertion direction. The card guide mechanism ejects the card after performing a pushing action on the card a plurality of times.

Card connector with double cam

A card connector is configured for receiving a generally rectangular card therein. The card has contact pads and generally parallel first and second sides with a cut-away portion formed in the first side in proximity to a front end of the card. The cut-away portion includes a short length extending from the front end generally parallel to the first side, and a tapered shoulder part extending from the short length to the first side. The connector includes an insulative housing with first and second spaced apart sidewalls that define a cavity therein for receiving the card in an insertion direction. A tapered surface is provided adjacent the first sidewall to guide an improperly inserted card at an angle to the insertion direction and a second sidewall recess is formed in the second sidewall to permit entrance of a corner part of such improperly inserted card. A plurality of electrically conductive terminals are mounted in the housing and configured to engage the contact pads of the card upon proper insertion of the card into the housing. A metal shell is also mounted on the housing.

Card connector

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a plurality of electrical cables arranged in parallel and having exposed core conductors at distal ends of the cables. The connector includes a housing which mounts a plurality of elongated, flat plate-like terminals in a generally parallel array. Each terminal includes a rear mounting end for mounting the terminal on the housing and a plate-like contact/termination end projecting forwardly of the mounting end. One flat surface of the plate-like contact/termination end is soldered to the core conductor of a respective one of the electrical cables. An opposite flat surface of the plate-like contact/termination end is exposed for engaging an appropriate contact of a complementary mating connector.

Reduced-size connector

An electrical connector assembly includes a receptacle connector () having a first non-conductive housing () for mounting on a printed circuit board () and including a mating receptacle (). A plurality of board terminals () are mounted on the first housing and have tail portions () for connection to appropriate circuit traces on the circuit board and contact portions () extending into the mating receptacle. A plug connector () has a second non-conductive housing () including a mating plug portion () for insertion into the mating receptacle of the receptacle connector. A plurality of signal terminals () are mounted on the second housing and have contact portions () on the mating plug portion thereof for engaging the contact portions of the board terminals in the mating receptacle when the connectors are mated. The signal terminals include terminating portions () for termination to a plurality of discrete signal conductors (). A single metal shell () is mounted on the second housing of the plug connector and projects therefrom over the first housing of the receptacle connector to shield the mating interface between the board terminals and the signal terminals when the connectors are mated.

Electrical connector assembly

A press fit pin of the present invention has a press-fitted region to be press-fitted and connected to a conductive through hole of a printed circuit board or other circuit substrate. The press-fitted region is formed into substantially an M-shape in cross-section, which has two beam-like regions extending substantially in parallel, and a connection region connecting the beam-like regions in a deformable manner. The connection region is formed into such an arcuate shape in cross-section that an upper surface corresponding to a valley side of the M-shape is a concave surface and an opposite lower surface is a convex surface. A part of the upper surface is partially located on the lower surface side with respect to a straight line L connecting left and right inner side continuous portions where the lower surface of the connection region and inner surfaces of the two beam-like regions are continuous to each other.

Press fit pin

A memory card connector includes a housing () mounting a plurality of terminals () having contact portions for engaging contacts on one side of a memory card. A cover () is mounted on the housing () and defines a card-receiving cavity () therebetween for receiving the card in a given, normal orientation. A displacement portion () of the housing displaces the memory card toward the cover if the memory card is inserted into the cavity in an abnormal orientation. A stop () on the cover engages an edge of the memory card to prevent the card from reaching the contact portions of the terminals if the memory card is inserted into the cavity in the abnormal orientation.

Card connector with a mechanism preventing erroneous insertion of a card

A memory card connector includes a housing mounting a plurality of terminals having contact portions for engaging contacts on one side of a memory card. A cover is mounted on the housing and defines a card receiving cavity therebetween for receiving the memory card in a given, normal orientation. A displacement rib is provided on the housing for displacing the memory card toward the cover and away from the contact a portions of the terminals if the memory card is inserted into the cavity in an abnormal orientation.

Card connector with terminal protection device

An electrical connector is provided for terminating a flat flexible cable. The connector includes a dielectric housing for receiving the flat flexible cable, the housing having arm holders at opposite ends thereof. A plurality of conductive terminals are mounted on the housing for electrically engaging appropriate conductors of the flat flexible cable. An elongated actuator is movably mounted on the housing and includes a body with a pressing portion for biasing the cable against the contact portions of the terminals. The actuator is fabricated of rigid ceramic material. A pair of connecting arms are mounted at opposite ends of the actuator and are of a resilient material other than ceramic for insertion into the arm holders of the housing.

Flat cable connector with improved actuator

Connector mounting jigs for simultaneously positioning and mounting a plurality of electrical connectors on a printed circuit board include a base member, and at least two sets of pairs of synthetic resin posts extending from one surface of and formed integrally with the base member for frictional engagement of respective corners of a cavity of each connector to support respective connectors in a predetermined positional relationship to each other.

Mounting jig for electrical connectors

A miniaturized shunt connector assembly provides sufficient retention force between the assembly and mating contact posts and includes an insulative housing defining a contact-receiving cavity and a contact mounted therewithin. The contact includes an opposing pair of generally opposing support pieces including parallel arm supporting portions spaced a given dimension apart. Resilient contact arms extend from an upper edge of each arm supporting portion and are inwardly and downwardly formed to project beyond the lower edge thereof. An anchor portion extends from a lower portion of each support piece and connects to an adjacent portion of the other of the pair of support pieces. One resilient contact arm opposes a corresponding resilient contact arm inside respective arm supporting portions and maintains a spaced apart dimension smaller than the dimension of the parallel arm supporting portions. The connector assembly is used to electrically couple or short two adjacent contact pins, and may be formed with contact portions generally equidistant from the top and bottom surfaces of the housing, thus obviating the need for orienting the housing.

Shunt connector assembly

A card-receiving connector system for a miniature circuit card. A card holder receives a card, and a frame is adapted for locating the card holder in an operative position thereon and includes spring contacts mounted therein for engagement with electronic circuitry on the card. Complementary interengaging latches are provided between the frame and the card holder for holding the card holder in the operative position. An eject mechanism is mounted on the frame for ejecting the card holder from its operative position. An unlatching mechanism is operatively associated with the eject mechanism for unlatching the interengaging latches in response to movement of the eject mechanism. Lost motion is built into the eject mechanism to permit unlatching of the latches prior to ejecting the card holder from its operative position.

Connector for miniature circuit card

A lockable electrical connector is provided for mating and locking with a complementary connector along a mating axis. A conductive shield is positioned substantially about a housing and a plurality of terminals. A pair of latch arms are provided generally on opposite sides of the connector and are adapted for locking engagement with appropriate latches on the complementary connector. The latch arms are flexible transversely of the mating axis from locked positions outwardly to unlocked positions. A support member is slidably mounted on the assembly for movement between a first position allowing free flexing movement of the latch arms and a second position whereat integral portions of the support member are located outside the latch arms to block flexing of the latch arms outwardly to their unlocked positions.

Lockable electrical connector

An electric connector has a housing with an inclined support flange at opposing ends. The inclined portions of these support flanges permit the housing to tilt, or rotate, slightly around the centerline of the connector in order to compensate for offset which may occur between the longitudinal centerline of the connector and a mating connector.

Board to board connector

Disclosed is a cover for use in automatically mounting electric connectors to a printed-circuit board with the aid of a vacuum-suction nozzle. The cover comprises a top plate to which the vacuum-suction nozzle can be applied, and opposite hooks integrally connected to the opposite ends of the top plate which catch the opposite side walls of the connector housing. The fitting cover may be easily attached to an electric connector having pin-like terminals projecting from its upper surface to cover the pin-like terminals of the electric connector. The attaching of the fitting cover to the electric connector will provide a smooth, flat surface to the connector-and-cover combination, thereby facilitating the use of the vacuum suction nozzle to hold electrical connectors regardless of the contour of their upper surface.
