A key switch device includes: a key top that includes an operating surface; a pair of link members that is interlocked with each other to move the key top upward and downward; a frame member that includes a leg portion extending downward and a flange portion provided at an end of the leg portion, and pivotably supports the pair of the link members; and a support plate that includes a through hole through which the leg portion and the flange portion penetrate, and a projection portion projecting upwardly from a part of an outer periphery of the through hole toward an inside of the through hole.

Key switch device and keyboard

A key switch device includes a key top; a link member that guides an elevating operation of the key top while being interlocking with the key top, the link member including a rotatable shaft and a sliding shaft that is connected to the key top; a membrane sheet that includes a contact that opens and closes in accordance with the elevating operation of the key top; a back plate; a housing that holds the rotatable shaft of the link member to the back plate; and a pushing unit that pushes the link member such that the sliding shaft moves away from the back plate.

Key switch device, and method of manufacturing key switch device

A push button-type switch device includes a pair of fixed contacts, an operable member to be pushed, an actuating member elastically deformable upon the operable member being pushed, a movable contact which short-circuits the pair of fixed contacts due to elastic deformation of the actuating member, and a limiting part arranged to limit a direction in which the operable member moves and making the operable member move in a fixed orientation. The limiting part includes a pair of link members that engage with each other, one ends of the link members rotatably supported by the base portion, and the other ends thereof slidably supported by the operable member. This produces a good click irrespective of a position where the operable member is operated.

Push button-type switch device

A key switch preferably used for a keyboard as an input device in electronic equipment. The key switch includes a base section; a key top disposed above the base section; a pair of link members interlocked to each other to support and direct the key top in a vertical direction relative to the base section; a switch member including a contact section capable of opening and closing in response to a vertical movement of the key top; and a biasing member capable of applying an elastic biasing force in a vertically upward direction to the key top. The key switch further includes a protection member disposed and inserted between the base section and the key top at a position where the protection member surrounds the pair of link members, the contact section and the biasing member. The protection member is elastically deformed to follow the vertical movement of the key top, and protects the pair of link members, the contact section and the biasing member from penetration of foreign matter.

Key switch and keyboard

The keyboard includes a rubber sheet fixed on key tops of a set of key-switch devices. The rubber sheet elastically urges the key tops upward so that they are borne away from the base of the key-switch devices. The rubber sheet is arranged so as to cover the key-switch devices from outside. According to the invention, the cost of a keyboard covered with a dustproof and watertight rubber sheet can be reduced.

Keyboard

A key switch device and a keyboard, capable of preventing key-entry noise from rebounding and having a drip-proof effect so as to avoid a contact fault and/or insulation failure. The key switch device includes a switch panel; a key top positioned above the switch panel; a pair of link members positioned between the key top and the switch panel and adapted to interlock with the key top so that the key top may be moved in a vertical direction while maintaining a horizontal posture; and an annular elastic wall member positioned between the switch panel and a membrane sheet and configured to contact opposing surfaces of the switch panel and the membrane sheet, wherein the elastic wall member is arranged along a contour of the key top.

A key switch unit includes a keycap elongated in a lengthwise direction; a switch mechanism; a supporting plate supporting the switch mechanism; and a key reinforcement mechanism engaging the keycap on its lower side for reinforcement. The key reinforcement mechanism includes a first wire member having a beam part extending over substantially an overall dimension of the keycap in the lengthwise direction; a second wire member having a beam part extending in the lengthwise direction between a region contacting the switch mechanism and a first lengthwise end of the keycap; and a third wire member having a beam part extending in the lengthwise direction between the region and a second lengthwise end of the keycap. The beam parts engage the keycap on its lower side. The first, second, and third wire members have respective end parts turnably supported on the supporting plate.

A key switch includes a switch provided on a base, a key top for operating the switch, and a link mechanism supported on the base and supporting the key top on its upper side, a shape of the link mechanism being changed when the key top is depressed. A movable plate is provided on the base, in stacked relationship; such that the movable plate is moved when the key top is depressed so as to change the shape of the link mechanism to a flat shape. An auxiliary link mechanism has a first part supported on the moveable plate and, in turn, by the base and a second part supporting the key top.

A key switch comprising a base, a key top arranged above the base, a pair of link members interlocked to each other and operatively engaged with the base and the key top to support the key top above the base and direct the key top in a vertical direction, and a switching mechanism for selectively opening and closing an electric circuit in connection with a vertical movement of the key top. Each of the link members includes a sliding portion slidably and shiftably engaged with either one of the base and the key top. At least one plate spring is disposed between at least one of the link members and either one of the base and the key top with which the sliding portion is engaged, to exert a biasing force, relative to a shifting amount of the sliding portion, onto at least one of the link members in a direction different from the vertical direction. The plate spring includes, in an integral manner, a first spring portion extending along a fixed-end side in a direction substantially parallel to a shifting direction of the sliding portion of each link member and a second spring portion extending along a free-end side in a direction intersecting the first spring portion.

A key switch includes a base, a key top arranged above the base, a pair of link members interlocked to each other to support the key top above the base and direct the key top in a vertical direction, and a switching mechanism capable of opening and closing an electric circuit in connection with a vertical movement of the key top. Each of the link members includes an engagable end region engaged with the key top. The base includes an inner peripheral surface defining an opening capable of receiving the link members. The base is provided on the inner peripheral surface with protruding wall parts located at positions respectively facing oppositely to the engagable end regions of the link members. Each protruding wall part serves to locally reduce a clearance defined between the inner peripheral surface and the engagable region of each link member when the link member is received in the opening.

A key switch comprising a base, a key top arranged above the base, a pair of link members interlocked to each other and operatively engaged with the base and the key top to support the key top above the base and direct the key top in a vertical direction, a switching mechanism for selectively opening and closing an electric circuit in connection with a vertical movement of the key top. Each of the link members includes a sliding portion slidably and shiftably engaged with either one of the base and the key top. At least one elastic member is disposed between at least one of the link members and either one of the base and the key top with which the sliding portion of each link member is engaged. The elastic member exerts biasing force, relative to a displacement or shifting amount of the sliding portion, onto at least one of the link members in a direction different from, e.g., substantially orthogonal to, the vertical shifting direction of the key top. Preferably, the biasing force assumes a linear relationship with the shifting amount of the sliding portion.

A portable information processing unit, such as a personal computer, has a keyboard in which the normal, operating height of key switches is reduced to a more compact, reduced height automatically when a cover of the unit is closed and is automatically reinstated to the normal operating height when the cover is opened. Each key switch has a key top, a base, an actuating mechanism connecting the key top to the base, an elastic member and a switching layer, the elastic member extending through an opening in the base and interconnecting the key top and the switch. Depression of the key top produces movement thereof in a depressing direction and a depression force transferred through the elastic member to the switch, switching same from an off to an on state; upon release of the key top, the elastic member returns the key top to the normal position. A slide plate is positioned between the base and the switch and has an opening therein through which the elastic member extends and is moveable in reciprocating directions between first and second positions corresponding to, and in response to, movement of the cover between closed and open conditions, the slide plate, in the first position corresponding to the closed condition of the cover, causing the actuating mechanism to move the key top in the depressing direction, compressing the elastic member and reducing the height of the key switches.
