A grease composition includes a base oil, a thickener, and an additive. The base oil contains a synthetic oil. The thickener contains a compound having a urea group. The additive contains a phosphoric compound, a calcium-based compound, and a hydrocarbon-based wax. A hub unit includes the grease composition enclosed therein.

Provided is a grease composition for a wheel bearing, containing (a) a base oil consisting of a mineral oil and a synthetic hydrocarbon oil, wherein the ratio of the synthetic hydrocarbon oil to the total amount of the mineral oil and the synthetic hydrocarbon oil is 40 to 60 mass %, and the base oil has a kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C. of 40 to 65 mm/s; (b) a thickener of formula (A) wherein Ris diphenylmethane, and Rand R, which may be the same or different from each other, each represent cyclohexyl group or a straight-chain or branched alkyl group having 16 to 20 carbon atoms, with a molar ratio of the cyclohexyl group to the total number of moles of the cyclohexyl group and the alkyl group being 50 to 90 mol %; (c) an amine type antioxidant; and (d) an amine phosphate type antiwear agent.

The invention provides a grease composition for hub unit bearing, having (a) as a base oil a mixture of a hydrocarbon synthetic oil and an ester type synthetic oil, with the content of the ester type synthetic oil being 20 to 50 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the total of the hydrocarbon synthetic oil and the ester type synthetic oil, and the base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 40&#xb0; C. of 20 to 80 mm/s, and (b) as a thickener a urea compound.

The invention provides a grease composition containing a base oil, a thickener and a rust inhibitor, characterized in that the rust inhibitor includes an organic sulfonate and a fatty acid amine salt. The invention provides a lubricant composition capable of favorably preventing the members from causing hydrogen embrittlement-induced flaking when the members are operated under the conditions where the oil film is thin (namely, the metal surfaces considerably come in contact with each other). A grease composition for constant velocity joints comprises the following components: (a) a base oil; (b) a diurea type thickening agent; (c) a molybdenum sulfurized dialkyl dithiocarbamate; (d) molybdenum disulfide; (e) at least one sulfur-phosphorus-containing extreme-pressure agent selected from the group consisting of zinc dithiophosphate compounds and thiophosphates; and (f) a fatty acid amide. The grease composition of the present invention has a high ability of reducing the induced thrust force and is excellent in the durability.

A method for automatic control of a friction clutch (,) in a vehicle, which clutch is designed to be disengaged and engaged by a clutch actuator (,) under automatic control. An initial partially engaged clutch stroke position (Q,) and an initial clutch stroke position (P,) at which fluid pressure in the clutch actuator reaches a prescribed value are detected to obtain a difference (R,) between said two clutch stroke positions prior to initiation of automatic clutch control. The friction clutch wears as it is used. Therefore, both of the partially engaged clutch stroke position and the clutch stroke position attaining the prescribed fluid pressure value change while the automatic clutch engagement/disengagement control is being performed. However, the difference between these two clutch stroke positions does not change. A current clutch stroke position attaining the predetermined fluid pressure is only detected during the automatic clutch control, and a current partially engaged clutch stroke position (Q,) is determined by adding the difference (R,) to the detected clutch stroke position (P,).

Method of specifying and diagnosing abnormalities in partially-connected clutch stroke levels

A starting apparatus for starting an engine only under constant conditions includes an electronically controlled clutch which is engaged or disengaged by an actuator in accordance with output signals from various detectors. The detectors sense a driving state, wherein a starter cut relay having normally-closed contacts is connected to an output terminal of an electronic control unit. One of the contacts of the starter cut relay is connected to one end of a relay coil for a starter relay. The other end of the relay coil is connected to a power source through a key switch. The other contact of the starter cut relay is connected to a non-grounded side contact of a neutral relay which is connected to the power source.

A grease composition for constant velocity joints comprises (a) a base oil; (b) a urea thickener; (c) at least one organic molybdenum compound selected from the group consisting of molybdenum dithiocarbamate and molybdenum dithiophosphate; and (d) at least one calcium salt selected from the group consisting of calcium salts of petroleum sulfonates, calcium salts of alkyl aryl sulfonates, calcium salts of salicylate, calcium salts of phenates, calcium salts of oxidized waxes, overbasic calcium salts of petroleum sulfonates, overbasic calcium salts of alkyl aryl sulfonates, overbasic calcium salts of salicylate, overbasic calcium salts of phenates, and overbasic calcium salts of oxidized waxes. The grease composition exhibits good performance for reducing vibration and effectively lubricates the constant velocity joints to effectively reduce frictional wear and to eliminate vibration.
