A lubricating oil composition contains: at least one lubricating base oil selected from the group consisting of a mineral lubricating base oil and a synthetic lubricating base oil; (a) a neutral phosphorus compound; (b) at least one acid phosphorus compound selected from the group consisting of a specific acid phosphate amine salt and a specific acid phosphite; and (c) a sulfur compound.

Lubricating oil composition

A lubricating oil composition which comprises a lubricating base oil and a sulfonate, phenate or salicylate of an alkaline earth metal and has a friction coefficient between metals of 0.12 or higher at &minus;20&deg; C. as measured in accordance with a block-on-disk test. The friction coefficient between metals in the use of a metal belt can be kept high within a wide range of temperature from low temperatures to high temperatures. In particular, the lubricating oil exhibits a high performance of &mgr;&equals;0.12 or higher at a low temperature of &minus;20&deg; C. in accordance with a block-on-disk test.

An oil composition for continuously variable transmissions (CVT) comprising a base oil, (A) a sulfonate, (B) an ashless dispersant, (C) an acid amide, (D) an organomolybdenum compound, and (E) an amine antioxidant. The oil composition for CVT prevents the scratching phenomenon while the transmitted power is kept large in CVT of a belt type used for automatic transmissions of automobiles. The gradient in the .mu.-V characteristic can be kept positive for a long time.

Oil composition for continuously variable transmissions

Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition for automatic transmissions, which comprises a base oil and additives of (A) a sulfur-containing antioxidant or an amine-type antioxidant, (B) a phosphate or its amine salt, and (C) a reaction product of a carboxylic acid and an amine. The composition has an excellent ability to prevent the brake lining of the clutch of automatic transmissions from shuddering, and can maintain the shudder-preventing ability for a long period of time.
