A rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated nitrile-conjugated diene high-saturation copolymer rubber containing 20 weight % or less of conjugated diene units, and 1-100 parts by weight of an unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R and R' represent aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon groups or a hydrogen atom, which may be the same or different from each other, Me represents a metal selected from the group consisting of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ti, Cr, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Ag, Zn, Cd, Hg, Al, Sn, Pb and Sb, and n is an integer of 2-4.

A toothed elastomeric belt for use in a power transmission system includes teeth having a cross-sectional configuration that includes a cycloidal convex curve that extends from the tooth tip and is smoothly connected to the bottom land between adjacent teeth by an arcuate fillet.

A tensioner acting on and allowing an endless transmission belt, stretched between a driving wheel and driven wheels supported on the body of an internal combustion engine, to run under a constant tension, wherein an oscillating lever supports a tension pulley pressed against a loosening side of the transmission belt and has a base end pivoted on the engine body, and an automatic adjuster connected to a tip end of the lever is supported on a case for a hydraulic pump of the engine. A spacer is interposed between contact portions of the oscillating lever and the engine body, and an outlet of the pump and an oil port of the adjuster are directly communicated. An adjusting screw is provided on the tip end of the oscillating lever and is operatively connected to the upper end of a plunger of the automatic adjuster. An auxiliary spring is further connected to the oscillating lever to assure the transmission belt of the constant tension, and the tension pulley supported on the oscillating lever is pressed against the transmission belt at a location close to the axis of an engine cylinder, that is, almost directly above the driving wheel, to thereby secure a sufficient space for installation of the automatic adjuster outside the pulley.

A cylinder block for an internal combustion engine includes the skeleton frame formed of metal and a waterjacket surrounding the frame formed of a heat resistant plastic. The engine includes a cylinder head and the cylinder bearing supports and a sleeve forming a cylinder bore. The engine block, cylinder head and main bearings are fixed together with bolts which pass through portions of the framework parallel to the metal sleeve. The engine also includes an air intake pipe with the portion of the pipe adjacent the waterjacket integrally formed with the waterjacket.

Cylinder block for internal combustion engine

A DOHC engine of the V-type has two cylinder heads each detachably secured to a cylinder block. A crank shaft on the block drives two intermediate shafts, one on each cylinder head, by means of an endless flexible element. An additional flexible endless element is provided in each cylinder head to drive two cam shafts from the intermediate shaft on that cylinder head. Each endless flexible element together with its toothed pulleys or sprockets and its timing belt or chain is described as a wrap-around transmission.

Valve actuating mechanism for engines

A pulley, composite in nature, including a fabricated wheel defining a rim channel into which a ring is positioned. The ring is rigidly held within the channel by tabs and interlocking arrangements. The ring is designed to include any one of a number of pulley gripping surfaces such as teeth and V grooves.

Proposed in this application is a device for attenuating vibrations in a drive shaft of a motor vehicle of a type, in which driving force of an engine is transmitted to both left and right drive shafts through a clutch, a transmission mechanism, and differential gears. This vibration attenuating device is constructed with a vibration absorbing device having a resilient member and a weight combined together as an integral whole, and both members are provided at one of the drive shafts having a length longer than the other to the end part thereof where wheel is to be fitted.
