Provided is an electroluminescence display comprising a display panel where a plurality of pixels connected to a plurality of data lines and a plurality of gate lines are arranged. Each pixel comprises: a driving TFT that controls the current in a light-emitting element EL in response to a data voltage applied to a gate; and switching TFTs that supply a high-level power supply voltage to the driving TFT in response to a gate-on voltage of an emission signal and control signals applied to the source and drain of the driving TFT. The electroluminescence display switches between first and second modes, the first mode being a mode in which data writing and driving TFT characteristic compensation are performed within 1 horizontal period 1H by applying a data voltage to the gate of the driving TFT, and the second mode being a mode in which data writing is performed within the 1 horizontal period by applying an initial voltage to the gate of the driving TFT and applying the data voltage upon completion of the compensation of the driving TFT characteristics.

An electroluminescent display device and a method of compensating for electrical characteristics of the electroluminescent display device are disclosed. The electroluminescent display includes a storage memory storing an average current-voltage expression of a display panel and a current value for each pixel, a parameter calculation unit calculating an offset and a gain for each pixel for causing current characteristics for each pixel based on the current value for each pixel to coincide with average current characteristics based on the average current-voltage expression, and a data correction unit correcting input image data to be written to each pixel based on the offset and the gain for each pixel. The average current-voltage expression and the current value for each pixel are obtained through a camera-based sensing process.

An organic light emitting display comprises a display panel having a plurality of pixels, a gate drive circuit that drives scan lines and emission lines on the display panel, and a data drive circuit that drives data lines on the display panel. A single frame for the organic light emitting display comprises an initial period in which the gate voltage of a driving transistor is initialized, a sampling period for compensating the threshold voltage of the driving transistor, and a light emission period in which an organic light emitting diode emits light. A value corresponding to an image signal to be displayed by the organic light emitting diode is applied to a data line during the sampling period, and an initial voltage is applied to one electrode of a capacitor during the initial period.
