A display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel; and a light source apparatus. The light source apparatus includes a substrate comprising a first side directed to the liquid crystal panel; at least one dimming block disposed on the first side of the substrate and each comprising at least one light source; at least one driving device disposed on the first side of the substrate and each configured to drive the at least one dimming block; and at least one signal line disposed on the substrate. The at least one signal line includes: a timing line configured to transmit a timing signal to the at least one driving device, a data line configured to transmit a data signal to the at least one driving device, or a power line configured to transmit a power signal to the at least one driving device.

A display device includes: a display panel; a light emitting unit; a driving circuit configured to control a driving current applied to the light emitting unit based on image data; and a controller configured to: obtain a selected mode of one of a low grayscale mode or a high grayscale mode based on a required luminance included in the image data, obtain a minimum value and a maximum value of the driving current based on the selected mode, based on an output range of the driving current being adjusted to obtain an adjusted output range, increase a number of luminance levels expressible within the adjusted output range to obtain an increased number of luminance levels, and control the driving circuit based on the increased number of luminance levels.

A display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel; a plurality of light sources configured to emit light; a substrate including a plurality of dimming blocks arranged in rows and columns, each dimming block of the plurality of dimming blocks including at least one light source of the plurality of light sources; a first driving device configured to control a driving current applied to light sources in first dimming blocks of the plurality of dimming blocks; and a second driving device configured to control a driving current applied to light sources in second dimming blocks of the plurality of dimming blocks, wherein the first dimming blocks, the second dimming blocks, the first driving device, and the second driving device are arranged on a first side of the substrate, and a layout of the first dimming blocks is different from a layout of the second dimming blocks.

A display device includes: Light Emitting Diode (LED) blocks connected in series; a driver Integrated Circuit which supplies a current to the LED blocks and is connected in series to one of the LED blocks; switching elements connected in parallel to the LED blocks; and a controller for controlling on/off of the switching elements to adjust which LED block to supply the current, over a time for implementing a unit frame.
