A display apparatus for reducing a booting time includes: a display panel including a plurality of pixels; a timing controller configured to drive the display panel; and a at least one controller configured to control the timing controller to perform a sensing process for sensing electrical characteristics of the plurality of pixels based on power-on of the display panel, wherein the at least one controller is further configured to determine whether to perform the sensing process or skip the sensing process based on a power-off period of the display panel before the display panel is powered on.

Display apparatus and controlling method for the same

A display panel and a display apparatus are provided. The display panel may include a first glass substrate; a second glass substrate provided in front of the first glass substrate in a first direction; and a color filter layer provided between the second glass substrate and the first glass substrate in the first direction. The color filter layer may include a plurality of color filters and a black matrix surrounding the plurality of color filters. A side edge of the black matrix may extend beyond a side edge of the first glass substrate in a second direction that is orthogonal to the first direction. The display apparatus may include a backlight unit and the display panel.

A display apparatus includes a display panel configured to display an image; a light source module provided behind a rear surface of the display panel and configured to emit light to the display panel, the light source module including a glass substrate and a light source provided behind a rear surface of the glass substrate; and a rear chassis covering the display panel and the light source module, wherein the light source is provided between the glass substrate and the rear chassis.
