A display device includes: a substrate that includes an opening and a display area that surrounds the opening; a plurality of grooves formed in the substrate between the opening and the display area; a display element layer on the substrate and that includes a plurality of display elements in the display area; a thin-film encapsulation layer disposed on the display element layer, the thin-film encapsulation layer including a first inorganic encapsulation layer, an organic encapsulation layer, and a second inorganic encapsulation layer which are sequentially stacked; a planarization layer disposed over the plurality of grooves and that includes an organic insulating material, wherein the planarization layer is disposed over the second inorganic encapsulation layer, and the organic encapsulation layer is disposed below the second inorganic encapsulation layer.

An electronic panel comprises a base substrate which comprises a front surface comprising a hole area and a display area surrounding the hole area and a rear surface and comprises a module hole located in the hole area and a plurality of recess patterns located in the hole area, a plurality of pixels, an encapsulation layer covering the pixels and comprising a first inorganic layer, a second inorganic layer, and an organic layer, and a protective pattern located in the hole area and spaced apart from the organic layer when viewed in a plan view. The recess patterns comprise a filled recess pattern filled with at least one of the organic layer or the protective pattern, and an exposed recess pattern exposed from the organic layer and the protective pattern.

A flow-restriction portion is disposed in a region between the first groove and the second groove that protrudes upwards from the substrate and confines an organic encapsulation layer of the encapsulation layer.

Display apparatus

A display panel includes a peripheral region adjacent to a display region. The display region includes a hole peripheral region, and a recessed region is overlapped with the hole peripheral region. The display panel also includes a barrier layer with a penetrating opening overlapped with the recessed region, a circuit layer on the barrier layer and including a transistor and insulating layers, and a device layer including an organic light emitting area coupled to the circuit layer. In addition, a module hole is overlapped with the hole peripheral region and penetrates the base substrate, and a first groove is overlapped with the hole peripheral region and corresponds to a portion of the base substrate that is recessed from a top surface of the barrier layer and that encloses the module hole. The insulating layers include inorganic layers and an organic layer having side portions enclosing the module hole.

A display device includes a support member including a through-hole, a polymer film disposed above a support member, a display panel disposed above a polymer film, a protective layer disposed above a display panel, and an electronic module. The polymer film includes a protrusion portion protruding toward the support member. A display apparatus includes: a substrate including a display area and a peripheral area outside the display area; an inorganic insulating layer stacked on the substrate and located in the display area and the peripheral area; an organic insulating layer on the inorganic insulating layer; a through portion located in the display area and penetrating through the substrate, the inorganic insulating layer, and the organic insulating layer; and at least one groove surrounding the through portion, wherein an end portion of the inorganic insulating layer is covered by the organic insulating layer at an outer side of the at least one groove, and the end portion faces the through portion.

A display panel includes a plurality of display elements arranged in a display area, an opening, a multi-layer including a first layer and a second layer disposed on the first layer, and a groove. Each display element includes a pixel electrode, an emission layer disposed on the pixel electrode, and an opposite electrode disposed on the emission layer. The display area surrounds the opening. The groove is located between the opening and the display area. The groove has an undercut cross-section that is concave in a thickness direction of the multi-layer, the second layer includes a pair of tips that protrude toward a center of the groove, and a length of each tip is less than about 2 μm.

Display panel

A display panel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an interlayer insulating layer, a pixel layer including a lower insulating layer between the interlayer insulating layer and a base substrate, an encapsulation layer including a first inorganic layer, and a first blocking groove in the display area, adjacent to a module hole, passing through the interlayer insulating layer to expose a portion of a top surface of the lower insulating layer, and the first blocking groove is surrounded by the first inorganic layer to contact the first inorganic layer.
