Provided is a method of adjusting a distribution of spatial sound energy, including storing information associated with a sound transfer function from each of speakers of a speaker array to a position of at least one listener, and information associated with the sound transfer function from each of the speakers of the speaker array to a far-field position, and generating at least two sound beams maximizing a far-field sound pressure attenuation with respect to a source signal, based on information associated with the sound transfer function, in order to form a personal sound zone in the position of the at least one listener.

Method and apparatus of adjusting distribution of spatial sound energy

An apparatus and method for creating a personal sound zone are provided. The personal sound zone creating apparatus increases directivity in a horizontal direction by including a broadside array adapted to generate a sound beam perpendicularly to an arrangement of an array constituted by at least three transducers in a personal audio device. Also, the personal sound zone creating apparatus controls back radiation by including an end-fire array by arranging at least two arrays.

Method and apparatus for creating personal sound zone

An apparatus and method for forming a Personal Sound Zone (PSZ) at a location of a listener are provided. An apparatus for simultaneously controlling a near sound field and a far sound field may classify the near sound field and the far sound field based on a distance between an array speaker and a listener, and may control the near sound field and the far sound field and thus, it is possible to perform focusing even when the listener is located in adjacent to the array speaker. Additionally, the apparatus may generate a directive sound source using the array speaker, and at the same time, may reduce a sound pressure in a far field, thereby reducing a sound source spreading to the far field while focusing is performed at the location of the listener.

Method and apparatus for simultaneously controlling near sound field and far sound field

A spatial sound energy (SSE) distribution control apparatus calculates filter coefficients for controlling distribution of the sound energy of an input signal, in consideration of a sound energy ratio between a reduction region for reducing transmission of a sound energy emitted through an array speaker and a concentration region for concentrating transmission of the sound energy and also in consideration of a sound energy efficiency of the concentration region. Also, the SSE distribution control apparatus determines an array size of a speaker in a case where the sound energy ratio is maximized, according to frequency variation of the input signal.
