Provided is a photon detector. The photon detector includes an optical waveguide including input and detection regions, which are spaced apart from each other in a first direction, and a conversion region between the input region and the detection region, a nano pattern disposed on the optical waveguide in the conversion region, and a nanowire disposed on the optical waveguide in the detection region. The nano pattern includes a first pattern and a second pattern, which extend in the first direction, and the first pattern and the second pattern are spaced apart from each other in a second direction crossing the first direction.

The bidirectional optical transceiver module according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure includes a first structure which has a hexahedron shape, has four side surfaces of which two side surfaces are formed to be inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to a bottom surface, and is transparent to both a transmitted light component and a received light component; and at least one second structure which has a planar shape, is inserted in the first structure so as to form a right angle with the bottom surface of the first structure and be tilted by a predetermined angle from a direction of the transmitted light component or the received light component, and is transparent to one of the transmitted light component and the received light component and reflective of the other one.

An opto-electronic connector module includes an optical waveguide portion including an optical waveguide in which an optical signal is transmitted, and a connector portion coupled to the optical waveguide portion, fixing the optical waveguide portion on a PCB on which a semiconductor chip portion having an opto-electronic device and a semiconductor chip is surface-mounted, and having a first coupling portion having a convex or concave structure formed in a lower portion thereof. The first coupling portion of the connector portion is coupled to a second coupling portion having a concave or convex structure formed on an upper surface of the PCB.

Opto-electronic connector module and opto-electronic communication module having the same

Provided is an optical wiring module. The optical wiring module includes a light source mounted on a surface of a substrate, a metal optical waveguide coupled to a transverse magnetic mode of light emitted from the light source and using a long-range surface palsmon polariton, and a photodetector. The optical wiring module has a simple structure enabling it to be further miniaturized and its yield to be increased.

Provided are an opto-electric bus module and a method of manufacturing the opto-electric bus module. The opto-electric bus module includes an opto-electric interconnection unit where a concave-shaped micro structure is formed on a lower surface of a polymer structure and an optical bench where a convex-shaped micro structure is formed in a position corresponding to the concave-shaped micro structure, at least one second electric interconnection for electric connection with a semiconductor chip is formed, and the semiconductor chip and an opto-electric device can be mounted. Thus, automatic, efficient, high-speed, and high-integration optical communication and electric communication between multi-chips can be completed at the same time by using the opto-bus module which provides low-speed electric communication while manually maintaining solid optical coupling.

Opto-electric bus module and method of manufacturing the same

Provided is an optical waveguide device including: a core having a stacked structure of at least three layers in which first thin films having a finite width and thickness and formed of a material having a relatively high electric conductivity and a second thin film having the same width as the first thin films and formed of a material having a lower conductivity than the material forming the first thin films are stacked in sequence, the first thin films being disposed in a first layer and an uppermost layer and adjacent to each other for interaction of surface plasmons; and a clad disposed around the core and formed of a material having a lower conductivity than the material forming the first thin films and a higher refractive index than the material forming the second thin film. The thin metal films of at least two layers having a high electric conductivity in the optical waveguide device can generate a combined surface plasmon mode and propagate the generated surface plasmon mode in the length direction of the thin metal films. Thus, a propagated signal suffers from a smaller propagation loss than a surface plasmon mode supported by a single thin film.

Provided is a super luminescent diode having low power consumption due to low threshold current and a high output power in low-current operation, which is suitable for an external cavity laser. The super luminescent diode for use in the external cavity laser is divided into a super luminescent diode (SLD) region and a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) region to provide a light source having a low threshold current and a nearly double output power of a conventional SLD. A super luminescent diode-integrated reflective optical amplifier includes a substrate that has a super luminescent diode (SLD) region and a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) region for amplifying light generated from the SLD region, an optical waveguide that has a buried heterostructure, the buried heterostructure including an active layer extending over the SLD and SOA regions on the substrate and tapered in the SOA region; a current blocking layer formed around the active layer for blocking a current flow to layers other than the active layer, the current blocking layer including a stack of semiconductor layers having different conductivity types; and a clad layer formed on the optical waveguide and the current blocking layer.

Optical amplifier-integrated super luminescent diode and external cavity laser using the same

Provided are an optoelectric printed circuit board (PCB) including an optoelectric transmission metal track and a dielectric layer, an optoelectric transmission method using the optoelectric PCB, and a method of manufacturing the optoelectric PCB. The optoelectric transmission method includes injecting light and electricity to the optoelectric PCB including at least one optoelectric transmission metal track and a dielectric layer contacting the optoelectric transmission metal track. The injected light and electricity are transmitted through the optoelectric PCB. The transmitted light and electricity are emitted from the optoelectric PCB.

Optoelectric printed circuit board, method of manufacturing the same, and optoelectric transmission method using the optoelectric printed circuit board

Provided is an optical device having an optical waveguide including an organic Bragg grating sheet. The optical device includes a cladding layer, and an optical waveguide. The cladding layer is formed on a substrate, and the optical waveguide is formed within the cladding layer. The optical waveguide includes a core layer and an organic Bragg grating sheet located within the core layer. The organic Bragg grating sheet has a refractive index higher than that of the core layer to reflect or transmit light having a predetermined wavelength. Accordingly, light propagates through the optical waveguide with high reflectance and low loss. Besides, a high performance tunable wavelength filter or tunable dispersion compensator may be constructed by forming a thermal electrode on the optical waveguide, forming a tapered optical waveguide, or forming a chirped organic Bragg grating sheet in the middle of the core layer of the optical waveguide.

Optical device having optical waveguide including organic Bragg grating sheet

A polyamic ester (PAE) film, which shows an electro-optic (EO) and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties without a poling process, is prepared. The chromophore in the film seems to be slightly oriented normally to the film surface (transverse magnetic field (TM) direction even though the polymer solution is spin-coated. This is due to the nano-configuration structure of PAE controlled by introducing a designed chemical structure into the monomeric repeating unit of PAE. Manufacturing the relating devices can be simplified by using the self-poled polymer film as a polymer waveguide. Additionally, the EO property of the film is thermodynamically stable.

Organic dye molecular materials prepared by coupling existing organic chromophore molecules to benzene or carbazole derivatives and nonlinear optical polymer compounds having polyimide repeating units coupled with the organic dye molecular material are provided. The organic dye molecular material coupled to a polymer main chain in the preparation of the nonlinear optical compound has the following: where Xis carbon oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, ester (CO), or amide (CONR), where Ris an alky or phenyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, D is an organic chromophore molecule, and n is an integer from 1 to 10.
