Discussed is a battery management apparatus that may include a voltage measuring unit configured to measure a voltage of a battery; a communication unit configured to output voltage information for the voltage measured by the voltage measuring unit; a power unit configured to provide an operation power to the communication unit; an environment information measuring unit configured to measure environment information including at least one of ambient temperature and humidity of the power unit; and a control unit configured to receive the measured environment information from the environment information measuring unit, judge whether the power unit is operable based on at least one of the received environment information, a capacity of the power unit, and a consumed current and a communication time consumed for the communication unit to output the voltage information, and control the communication unit according to a judgment result about whether the power unit is operable.

Battery management apparatus and method

Discussed is a sensing apparatus that can include a voltage measuring unit configured to measure a voltage of a battery when a power is supplied thereto, an environment information measuring unit configured to measure environment information for the battery when power is supplied thereto, a connector unit configured to output a first connection signal when connected to the battery and output a second connection signal when connected to an external battery management system (BMS), a power unit configured to supply power to at least one of the voltage measuring unit and the environment information measuring unit according to an operation mode, and a control unit configured to control the operation mode of the power unit based on which of the first connection signal and the second connection signal is received from the connector unit and residual amount information of the power unit.

Sensing apparatus and method

A battery management apparatus is discussed, and includes: a measuring unit connected to a battery and configured to operate in a measurement mode during a predetermined measurement time at each preset measurement cycle and measure battery information including at least one of voltage and temperature of the battery while operating in the measurement mode; and a control unit configured to operate in a communication mode during a preset operation time at each preset communication cycle, receive the battery information from the measuring unit while operating in the communication mode, set a next operation time point at which the measuring unit is to operate in the measurement mode based on at least one of the communication cycle and a measurement time, and change an operation time to operate in the communication mode at each subsequent communication cycle based on the measurement time.

Disclosed herein are a wireless battery management system (BMS) and a battery pack including the same. The wireless BMS includes a plurality of slave BMSs installed and coupled to a plurality of battery modules of the battery pack in one-to-one correspondence, and a master BMS configured to wirelessly transmit a trigger signal to the plurality of slave BMSs for identification (ID) allocation to each of the plurality of slave BMSs. Each slave BMS is configured to generate a response signal including a respective allocated temporary ID in response to the trigger signal, and wirelessly transmit the response signal to the master BMS. For each given slave BMS, the master BMS is configured to receive the response signal from of the given slave BMS, and determine a formal ID to be allocated to the given BMS based on a received signal strength of the response signal.
