A cooling control method of a fuel cell is provided. The method includes estimating a temperature of a separator based on heat exchange between the separator formed between unit cells of a fuel cell stack and coolant flowing through a cooling line between the separators. A ratio of coolant passing through a heat exchange device to coolant bypassing the heat exchange device is adjusted based on the estimated temperature of the separator. Additionally, a rotation speed of a pump for circulating coolant for cooling the fuel cell stack is adjusted based on the estimated temperature of the separator.

Cooling control system and method of fuel cell

A cooling control system and method for fuel cells are provided. The cooling control system includes a fuel cell, a cooling circulation line connected to the fuel cell to circulate cooling water for cooling the fuel cell therein and a cooling water pump provided on the cooling circulation line to adjust a circulation amount of the cooling water. A calculation unit calculates a thermal energy change of the fuel cell based on a heating value and an amount of radiant heat of the fuel cell. A controller operates the cooling water pump based on the calculated thermal energy change of the fuel cell.

The method includes determining whether a cold start condition upon start on is satisfied and estimating thawing energy required to thaw frozen moisture inside a fuel cell stack when the cold start condition has been satisfied. A control system for fuel cell cooling is provided. The system includes a fuel cell stack, a coolant circulation line connected to the fuel cell stack, and a heat exchange device provided in the coolant circulation line. A bypass line bypasses the heat exchange device. A temperature adjusting device adjusts a ratio between coolant flowing into the heat exchange device of the coolant circulation line and coolant flowing into the bypass line. A temperature estimator estimates a temperature of the coolant of the coolant circulation line at a point before the bypass line joins the coolant circulation line after the coolant passes through the heat exchange device. An opening degree controller operates the temperature adjusting device using the temperature of the coolant estimated by the temperature estimator and the temperature of the coolant at a point at which the coolant flows into the fuel cell stack.

The method includes deducing an amount of moisture in a stack of a fuel cell, when a supply amount of air of the stack of the fuel cell is decreased and determining a state of the fuel cell based on the amount of moisture. Additionally, the method includes deducing allowance power of a regenerative braking of a driving motor using maximum power of the regenerative braking of an air compressor and chargeable power of a high voltage battery based on the determined state. The regenerative braking of the driving motor is then adjusted to prevent actual power of the regenerative braking of the driving motor from exceeding the allowance power of the regenerative braking.

A method and a system are provided for controlling an air intake of a fuel cell vehicle. The method includes calculating a value for basic air intake of a fuel cell based on a driver requirement and calculating a value of motor current requirement based on the driver requirement. A rate-of-change is calculated of the value of motor current requirement and a value for supplementary air intake is calculated by multiplying the rate-of-change of the value of motor current requirement by a gain value. The present invention provides a hybrid fuel cell system that is configured to determine if an idle stop condition has been satisfied during a normal operation mode of the hybrid fuel cell system, cut off air supply to a fuel cell to stop power generation of the fuel cell and reduce a voltage which the fuel cell outputs in response to determining that the idle stop condition has been satisfied. The voltage of a bidirectional converter, connected between a battery and a bus terminal is reduced and the output of the fuel cell is controlled, based on a first predetermined value and maintained at that first predetermined value. The present invention provides a method for controlling the operation of a fuel cell system at low temperature that can suitably prevent flooding in a cathode of a fuel cell stack during low-temperature operation, thus improving the operation stability and durability of the fuel cell stack. In preferred embodiments, the present invention provides a method for controlling the operation of a fuel cell system at low temperature, the method comprising determining whether the temperature of a fuel cell stack reaches a normal temperature; calculating, when it is determined that the temperature of the fuel cell stack is lower than the normal temperature, a target temperature at a cathode outlet to maintain water present in a cathode of the fuel cell stack in a vapor phase based on information related to an operation state of the fuel cell stack detected by an operation state detection means; and calculating a target amount of coolant based on the calculated target temperature at the cathode outlet and the information related to the operation state of the fuel cell stack, and controlling the amount of coolant supplied to the fuel cell stack based on the calculated target amount of coolant.
