An apparatus and method for automatically searching for a low-power Base Station (BS) supporting access of a registered user in a mobile communication system includes a method of performing automatic search on a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) cell by a User Equipment (UE). The method includes determining by the UE whether automatic search needs to be performed on the CSG cell. The method also includes, if it is determined that automatic search does not need to be performed on the CSG cell, turning off by the UE a CSG cell automatic search function of the UE by emptying a first white list including CSG Identifiers of accessible CSG cells.

Apparatus and method for automatically searching for low-power base station supporting access of registered user in mobile communication system

System and method for providing an emergency service in a communication system

A system and method for switching a session of a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system are provided. According to the method, if the UE performs a handover from a macro base station of a macro cell to a femto base station of a femto cell, a femto base station transmits a path switch request message, which includes a serving gateway relocation Information Element (IE), to a Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the macro cell, in order to request a switching from an existing session of the UE to a new session managed by the femto base station. Then, in response to the path switch request message, the MME switches the existing session of the UE to the new session and transmits a path switch approval message to the femto base station. The serving gateway relocation IE includes information requesting relocation of a serving gateway of the UE to a femto serving gateway within the femto cell.

Method for switching session of user equipment in wireless communication system and system employing the same

A method and apparatus for supporting an idle mode of a Mobile Station (MS) in a superframe-based wireless communication system are provided. In a method for operating an MS to support an idle mode in a superframe-based wireless communication system, a paging listening interval is determined based on a Broadcast CHannel (BCH) information Transmit (TX) interval. BCH information including paging information is received during the paging listening interval. An apparatus and method for transmitting an UpLink (UL) pilot using a scanning interval in a mobile communication system are provided. The method includes receiving a scanning response message including information on a UL pilot channel allocation mode from a serving Base Station (BS), measuring each DownLink (DL) channel state using DL signals of one or more neighboring BSs and transmitting a UL pilot to each of the one or more neighboring BSs in the UL pilot channel allocation mode, during a scanning duration. A method for requesting bandwidth allocation by a mobile station in a communication system is provided. The mobile station detects at least one Connection IDentifier (CID), bandwidth allocation for which is to be requested, generates a bandwidth request header when the number of the at least one detected CID equals one, and transmits the bandwidth request header to a base station, wherein the bandwidth request header includes a region for indicating a first CID representing basic information for identification of the mobile station, a region for indicating a ranking of the detected CID, and a region for indicating information about bandwidth requested for the detected CID.

A method is provided for providing a multicast service by a base station (BS) in a wireless communication system. The method includes transmitting an Ndata traffic corresponding to a multicast service to a plurality of mobile stations (MSs) through a multicast channel in an Fframe; determining whether a Negative Acknowledgement (NACK) message indicating a failure to receive the Ndata traffic is received from at least one MS in an (F+1)frame; and when the NACK message is received, retransmitting the Ndata traffic to an MS, which transmitted the NACK message, through an other channel different from the multicast channel in an (F+2)frame.

A method for synchronizing connection identifiers (CIDs) in a communication system includes sending a first message for requesting addition of a service flow identified by a CID; sending a second message and, at the same time, setting a number of a frame where the second message is transmitted as a first start frame number; sending a third message and, at the same time, setting a number of a frame where the third message is transmitted as a second start frame number; performing a modulo operation on a frame having the first or second start frame number and its succeeding frames using a positive integer for each frame, and detecting a number of a frame where a result value of the modulo operation becomes zero; and simultaneously updating CID lists at a frame having the detected frame number with regard to a CID of the added service flow.

System and method for connection identifier synchronization in a communication system

A system and method for providing an emergency service in a communication system are provided. The method includes transmitting a request message for requesting connection setup for service provision from a first station to a second station, the request message including a first indicator indicating an emergency service; receiving a response message in response to the request message by the first station from the second station, the response message including service flow connection information for provision of the emergency service and a second indicator indicating that it is a response to the request message, acquiring the service flow connection information from the response message and transmitting a message acknowledging acquisition of the service flow connection information to the second station, and setting a connection for providing the emergency service.

A system is provided for performing location update in a wireless mobile communication system that uses an Internet protocol (IP) address and is classified as at least one paging group. A serving base station (BS) sends a message including an identifier of a paging group where the serving BS is located, determines whether there is a change in IP subnet of a mobile station (MS) upon receipt of a location update request from the MS, and upon recognizing a change in IP subnet of the MS, stores information on a new IP subnet and notifies the change in the IP subnet to the MS. Upon detecting a need for location update, the MS sends a request for location update to a serving BS, and receives a location update success notification and an allocated temporary IP address from the serving BS.

System and method for fast paging in a wireless mobile communication system based on internet protocol

A system and method for performing handover in a wireless mobile communication system are provided. In a Mobile Station (MS)-initiated scanning method of an (MS) in a wireless mobile communication system having at least two frequency bands with different central frequencies, the MS receives from a serving Base Station (BS) a mobile neighbor advertisement message including information about available radio resources of the neighbor BSs, transmits a new scanning request message to the serving BS, if the MS determines to measure Carrier-to-Interference and Noise Ratios (CINRs) of pilot signals from the serving BS and the neighbor BS, receives from the serving BS a response message for the scanning request message, including information about a BS which has reserved radio resources for a predetermined one of the at least two frequency bands, and measures the CINRs of the pilot signals in the predetermined frequency band.

In the method, a serving base station (BS) measures a level of a first uplink signal by monitoring an uplink to the MS. The serving BS receives a level of a second uplink signal, measured and reported by at least one neighbor BS. The serving BS determines a handoff for the MS considering the level of the first uplink signal and the level of the second uplink signal.
