Disclosed is an organic/inorganic composite porous film comprising: (a) inorganic particles; and (b) a binder polymer coating layer formed partially or totally on surfaces of the inorganic particles, wherein the inorganic particles are interconnected among themselves and are fixed by the binder polymer, and interstitial volumes among the inorganic particles form a micropore structure. A method for manufacturing the same film and an electrochemical device including the same film are also disclosed. An electrochemical device comprising the organic/inorganic composite porous film shows improved safety and quality.

Organic/inorganic composite porous film and electrochemical device prepared thereby

An energy storage device includes an anode; a cathode; an electrolyte in contact with both the anode and the cathode; and an electrically non-conductive separator between the anode and the cathode. The separator includes a membrane having a plurality of voids, wherein at least some of the voids are partially filled with inorganic particles, and wherein the inorganic particles exhibit a shear modulus greater than the shear modulus of the membrane.

Separator for energy storage device

Provided are a lithium secondary battery including a cathode, an anode, a separator, and a gel polymer electrolyte, wherein i) the anode includes a silicon (Si)-based anode active material, ii) the gel polymer electrolyte is formed by polymerizing a composition that includes a monomer having a functional group bondable to metal ions, and iii) a charge voltage of the battery is in a range of 3.0 V to 5.0 V. Since the lithium secondary battery of the present invention may prevent the movement of metal ions dissolved from a cathode to an anode or reduce the precipitation of metal on the anode, the lifetime of the battery may not only be improved but capacity characteristics of the battery may also be excellent even in the case in which the battery is charged at a high voltage as well as normal voltage.

Lithium secondary battery

Provided are a lithium secondary battery including a cathode, an anode, a separator, and a gel polymer electrolyte, wherein the gel polymer electrolyte includes an acrylate-based polymer and a charge voltage of the battery is in a range of 4.3 V to 5.0 V, and a method of preparing the lithium secondary battery. A high-voltage lithium secondary battery of the present invention has excellent capacity characteristics at a high voltage of 4.3 V or more.

Provided are a composition for a gel polymer electrolyte including i) an electrolyte solution solvent, ii) an ionizable lithium salt, iii) a polymerization initiator, and iv) a monomer having a functional group bondable to metal ions, and a lithium secondary battery including the composition for a gel polymer electrolyte. In a case where the composition for a gel polymer electrolyte of the present invention is used in a lithium secondary battery, since the movement of metal ions dissolved from a cathode to an anode may be prevented or the precipitation of metal on the anode may be reduced, the lifetime of the battery may not only be improved but capacity characteristics of the battery may also be excellent even in the case in which the battery is charged at a high voltage as well as normal voltage.

Composition for gel polymer electrolyte and lithium secondary battery including the same

Disclosed is a porous film comprising: (a) a porous substrate having pores; and (b) a coating layer formed on at least one region selected from the group consisting of a surface of the substrate and a part of the pores present in the substrate, wherein the coating layer comprises styrene-butadiene rubber. An electrochemical device using the porous film as a separator is also disclosed. The porous film is coated with a styrene-butadiene polymer, whose rubbery characteristics can be controlled, and thus provides improved scratch resistance and adhesion to other substrates. When the porous film is used as a separator for an electrochemical device, it is possible to improve the safety of the electrochemical device and to prevent degradation in the quality of the electrochemical device.

Surface-treated microporous membrane and electrochemical device prepared thereby

Disclosed is an electrode, comprising a coating layer of crosslinked polymer, formed on a surface of electrode active material particles, while maintaining a pore structure formed among the electrode active material particles interconnected to each other in the electrode. A method for manufacturing the electrode and an electrochemical device comprising the electrode are also disclosed. The electrode, which comprises a coating layer of crosslinked polymer formed on the surface of the electrode active material particles, can improve the safety of a battery, while minimizing degradation in the quality of a battery.

Safety-improved electrode by introducing crosslinkable polymer and electrochemical device comprising the same

Disclosed is an electrolyte for a battery comprising: (a) an electrolyte salt; (b) an organic solvent; and (c) a functional electrolyte additive. An electrochemical device comprising the electrolyte is also disclosed. The additive used in the electrochemical device effectively controls the surface of a cathode active material, which otherwise causes side reactions with an electrolyte, due to the basic skeleton structure and polar side branches of the additive. Therefore, it is possible to improve the safety of a battery, while not adversely affecting the quality of a battery.
