An organic light emitting display and method of driving the display are disclosed. The display is driven with an ith frame and an (i+1)th frame, wherein the (i+1)th frame has a shorter duration than the ith frame. The driving signals for the display are adjusted so that the apparent brightness of the frames is substantially equal.

A stereoscopic image display device and a driving method thereof are disclosed. According to one aspect, the device includes a scan driver and a data driver configured to transmit scan signals and data signals to scan lines and data lines respectively, a light emission driver configured to transmit light emission control signals to light emission control lines, and a display unit divided into pixel areas including pixel lines. A controller is configured to control the drivers, generate a left-eye and right-eye image data signals, and supply the generated signals to the data driver. The light emission driver includes light emitting circuits configured to sequentially transmit light emission control signals that are equivalent to each other to light emission control lines of the corresponding pixel area.

Stereopsis display device and driving method thereof

A light emitting display is configured to reduce or prevent motion blur by shortening a time that a black frame is displayed between image frames. One embodiment includes display region, a data driver, a scan driver, and a controller. The display region displays frames of images according to a data signal and a scan signal. The data driver transmits data for displaying first frames and second (black) frames between the first frames. The scan driver includes first and second scan driving circuits for transmitting scan signals, and a switch unit for selectively coupling the first and second scan driving circuits. The scan driver transmits scan signals sequentially during the first frames and transmits scan signals to at least two of the scan lines concurrently by driving the first and second scan driving circuits in parallel during the second frames. The controller transmits a driving control signal to control the switch.

In an organic light emitting display and its driving method, a pixel portion includes a plurality of pixels which express images corresponding to a scan signal, an emission control signal, and a data signal. A scan driver transfers the scan signal and the emission control signal to the pixel portion. A data driver generates and transfers a plurality of data signals to the pixel portion using video data. A frame memory stores and transfers the video data in frame periods to the data driver. A luminance controller determines a pulse of the emission control signal using frame data, which is a sum of video data stored in the frame memory. A power supply unit supplies voltages of first and second power sources to the pixel portion. The luminance controller determines the number and widths of pulses in the emission control signal corresponding to a sum of the video data.

Organic light emitting display and its driving method

A display driven by a data signal and a light emission signal may be controlled by a control system including a first through fourth controller. The first controller may select a gamma value in accordance with ambient illumination and output a corresponding gamma compensation signal to control a gradation voltage of input image data. The second controller may compare the ambient illumination with a reference value, generate a selection signal in response thereto, and provide changed image data obtained by changing input image data in accordance with the selection signal as the data signal. The third controller may apply a scaling factor to the input image data generated from extracted features related to the input image data and a scale ratio obtained from the extracted features, and output scaled image data as the data signal. The fourth controller may control a pulse width of the emission control signal.

Organic light emitting display, controller therefor and associated methods

A memory managing method for display data of a light emitting display device, which uses field light-emitting of organic materials. A plurality of pixels are each provided with at least two sub-pixels to emit different color lights, wherein one field has at least first and second subfields divided and driven independently. At least two data signals corresponding to substantially the same color are time-divided and applied to a data line during the one field, and selecting signals are sequentially applied to a plurality of scan lines at the first and second subfields. The method includes a) dividing input data corresponding to a display image into data for the first and second subfields, b) arranging the data for the first and second subfields according to a sequence of light-emitting driving, and c) storing the arranged data as pixel-based data.

Method for managing display memory data of light emitting display

An organic EL display device for compensating for a reduction of the voltage between the gate and source of a driving transistor occurring due to a voltage drop of the source voltage caused by the resistance component of a power source line, and a method for driving the organic EL display device. The organic EL display device has a data driver for receiving digital image data and applying the digital image data and a data voltage corresponding to the position of a pixel circuit. The data driver outputs different data voltages depending on the position of the pixel circuit even when the same digital image data are received. When the driving transistor is a P-type transistor, the data driver applies a higher data voltage to a pixel circuit that is closer to an external voltage source than that applied to a farther one even when the same digital data are received. When the driving transistor is an N-type transistor, the data driver applies a lower data voltage to a pixel circuit that is closer to an external voltage source than that applied to a farther one even when the same digital data are received.
