A main object of the present disclosure is to provide an active material wherein a volume variation due to charge/discharge is small. The present disclosure achieves the object by providing an active material comprising at least Si and Al, including a silicon clathrate type crystal phase, and a proportion of the Al to a total of the Si and the Al is 0.1 atm % or more and 1 atm % or less.

A main object of the present disclosure is to provide an all solid state battery in which occurrence of short circuit is inhibited. The present disclosure achieves the object by providing an all solid state battery comprising an anode including at least an anode current collector, a cathode, and a solid electrolyte layer arranged between the anode and the cathode; wherein a protective layer containing a Mg-containing particle that contains at least Mg, and also containing a polymer, is arranged between the anode current collector and the solid electrolyte layer.

The present disclosure achieves the object by providing an all solid state battery comprising layers in the order of a cathode layer, a solid electrolyte layer, and an anode layer; wherein the anode layer contains an anode active material including a silicon clathrate II type crystal phase; restraining pressure of 0 MPa or more and less than 5 MPa is applied to the all solid state battery in a layering direction; and a specific surface area of the anode active material is 8 m/g or more and 17 m/g or less.

The present disclosure achieves the object by providing an active material comprising a silicon clathrate type crystal phase, and the active material includes a Na element, a Si element and a M element that is a metal element with an ion radius larger than the Si element, and a proportion of the M element to a total of the Si element and the M element is 0.1 atm % or more and 5 atm % or less.

The manufacturing method of a porous silicon material of the present disclosure includes a particle forming step of melting a raw material containing Al as a first element in an amount of 50% by mass or more and Si in an amount of 50% by mass or less to obtain a silicon alloy, a pore forming step of removing the first element from the silicon alloy to obtain a porous material, and a heat treatment step of heating the porous material to diffuse elements other than Si to a surface of the porous material.
