An air conditioner is provided, which is capable of accurately determining appropriateness of a refrigerant amount in a refrigerating cycle. A control apparatus is configured to: stop a cooling operation; set an expansion valve to a fully-closed state and, at the same time, switch the selector valve to change the direction, in which a refrigerant flows, to an opposite direction; operate a compressor to perform a refrigerant recovery operation, in which a refrigerant contained in an outdoor heat exchanger is recovered by an indoor heat exchanger; and determine the appropriateness of a refrigerant amount in a refrigerating cycle, based on at least one of a time required for recovering the refrigerant, a pressure change in a refrigerant suctioned by the compressor, and temperature of the refrigerant discharged from the compressor during the refrigerant recovery operation.

Air conditioner

An air conditioner including an outdoor device that includes a bypass path connecting a discharge side of the compressor and a suction side of the compressor, an on-off valve configured to open/close the bypass path, and a control device configured to control the compressor, the decompression device, and the on-off valve. The control device opens the on-off valve in a state in which the compressor is stopped to execute such bypass opening that refrigerant circulates, through the bypass path, from the discharge side of the compressor in a refrigerant storage state in which refrigerant is stored to the suction side of the compressor in a substantially vacuum state, and evaluates a volume of the pipe.

Solution: The air conditioner having an expansion valve for decompressing a refrigerant, and a heat exchanger for heat exchange between the refrigerant and air. The air conditioner includes a first linearly shaped piping that is connected to the expansion valve and vertically disposed, a branch pipe connected to the first piping for branching a refrigerant flow path into a plurality of sections, a plurality of second pipings connected to the branch pipe, and a plurality of distributors connected to the second piping for further branching the refrigerant flow path to the heat exchanger.
